Can't open photos... not a valid Win32 application

When I try to open photos in My Pictures I get msg:

C:\Documents and Settings.........00(N).jpg is not a valid Win32

application.

Where N is the photo number. These many photos have opened for years

and this problem started a couple of days ago. WinXP IE7 OE6. I am able to

email the photos and work on them with Zoombrowser.
