In XP, we changed the registry so that we had an admin account profile

pointing at the Default User profile. So that when we looked in with this

account anything we changed was done in the Default User profile. So that

when users log in, they get a standard profile that was created using the

edited Default User profile. This is what we did in XP:

Edit the registry so that the temp account's profile path points to the

Default User's profile path.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows

NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\]

Default User's profile path is usually C:\Documents and

Settings\Default User\

When I did the same thing for Vista using Users instead of Docs and settings

and Default instead of Default User, I can log in and get the Default

profile, but I can not do anything. Everything is greyed out, not able to

add new folders to desktop. Noticed that all the default folders are read

only and not able to make them no-read only, even logging in as the Admin

account.

What do I need to do to fix this problem?
