FYI: HP sucks. avoid their MFP products at all costs if you're running any

type of Vista!

i don't know what their problem is, but they simply cant get their drivers

right. these are my symptoms:

1. all of the scanners uninstall by themselves inexplicably.

2. HP Solution Center (hpqscnw...exe) crashes 95% of the time

3. all other scanning software, like MS Office document scanner, can't use

the TWAIN device or will get the same error.

4. when it doesn't crash, i often get "...can't scan. device is in use by

another device..." (or something to that effect) when it isn't.

Heres what i had gone through trying to get a good functioning MFP and i

still only get intermittent performance.

1. bought newer versions of MFPs: 7410, 6310, 6180. all have the same

problem

2. bought 3 types of Vista, 64 bit Ultimate, 32 bit Ultimate, 32 bit Home

PRemium. Home premium has the fewest errors occurance.

3. uninstalled/clean installed HP "updated" drivers a billion times

4. uninstalled/ reinstalled/ configured Norton IS and Windows firewalls as

many times

i now basically have to reinstall the scanners just about every 3 uses.

Stay away from HP if you want to remain sane.

PS none of these issues occur with XP. i'm beginning to think that Vista is

a total bust and i should just return to XP all together or switch to Mac OSX

now that their latest software has caught up with Vista feature set.

1. i've bought 3 Officejets, 7410, 6310 and 6180.
