network connections

I have a computer that gets internet through a wireless connection, router to

adapter. Now when it attempts to connect, it gives the error message "not

connected" but it is connected. The bright red X is on both network

connections icons below but it is connected none the less. When I bring up

the network connections window, the adapter is listed as not connected but up

above, a new section called shared internet connection appears and that is

listed as connected. But I know that there is no connection shared with

another computer because the only connection is through the router to the

adapter. Nothing computer to computer. Please anyone, what does this mean.
