Hello

I'm new to this forum but have been struggling with my new pc that has

Windows Vista home premium running on it.

The machine spec is

Intel core 2 quad cpu q6600 @ 2.40 ghz

3 gb ram

Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX

At first the machine worked great, I use it mainly for gaming and have

not really played anything other than Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, Company

of Heroes and Crysis. All ran great.

I first started getting a problem when the 1.6 patch came out for COD 4

and when I downloaded it and tried installing it i kept getting the

reply.

Cod 4_1.6 patch installer has stopped working.

I'm also getting the same problem when I try and install team speak 2

and AVG 8. Small programmes I have downloaded or got from Pc mags will

never install as well as demo's. Although large programmes like games

and such still install.

I tried reinstalling Vista which at first worked, I reinstalled Cod 4

and the 1.6 patch installed straight away. A week later they released

the 1.7 patch and when I went to install it I got the installer error.

My account on the Vista is running as admin, I've tried using backwards

compatiability ( more out of frustration ) as I know that they should be

working on Vista.

I just wondered if anyone else is having similiar problems or knows

what I should do to solve it?
