Guest hilly1609 Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I have an Acer 9815 laptop with Vista Ultimate as the OS. I have set up a USB TV stick for use in the Media Centre and get brilliant reception but have difficulty keeping the system operational as it is prone to freeze the video and audio for no apparent reason and this also prevents almost all other programmes running. Initiallt I thought it wa sthe DVB TV stick but I have tried it on another laptop and it works fine also the frezze continues when I remove the stick from the USB port. The only way I can recover (sometimes) is to use Task Manager and end the processes of TVJoy and the smaller apps that are run by Media Centre, then restart the Media Centre. The processor continues to run during this freeze up - this is seen in "task manager processes" but the memory in use on TVJoy stays static. I have contacted the TV Stick manufacturer and they advise me to try an alternative to the Windows Media Centre but I think this may cause major conflicts and am loathe to even try it! I would welcome any suggestions or hints as to what is going on! It seems to do it at the most inopportune moments - the last 2 rounds of the Amir Khan fight - the final putt on the 18th at Carnoustie on Sunday - Tony Blair going to tell the truth - I only made the last bit up! but I am desperate!
