Hello,

Is there a way to make Vista smartly select between various types of

network access? I'm using both WLAN at home (2K cable) and an in-built

3G connection (380M) at workplace and on the road.

Both work fine, but I'd like to make Vista select the fastest possible

access. As it is, it always prefers the slower 3G cellular access, even

though I haven't marked it as primary or preferred or anything.

That is, when I boot the machine at home, it first acquires the WLAN

and starts D/L:ling via it, but invariably as it also acquires the 3G

connection some 30 seconds later, it switches to using it. It shows both

connections as connected, but only downloads at like 3-4kilobytes a

second.

I must manually switch off the 3G access to force it to use WLAN only,

and get over tenfold access speeds. And even then, if I for instance

type the address wrong, it assumes I'm offline because it won't load,

and automatically spawns the 3G access, resulting in slower speed!

Seems stupid it only wants to use the 3G network, so is there any way

to make it smarter in selecting the networks, i.e. select the fastest

one available at all times?

Cheers,

Dee
