KB950126 install failure

This is on a Athlon 64 machine running 32 bit Vista Ultimate with SP1

installed. It was set to auto download and install updates and it has worked

well until yesterday with the subject update.

I've tried manual download and install and always get the same problem. The

install gets to the configuring updates 3 of 3, gets to 87%, restarts, and

continually loops these steps. I have to do a restore from the Repair

function on the OS disc.

When I look at the update history there are 3 failed installs of the subject

update with an error code 800F0816.

Sorry about the cross posting but I just realized I posted to the wrong

group originally. I meant to post here.

Can anyone suggest what my problem might be and how I might be able to fix

it?
