Posted June 15, 200816 yr Joe, I just bought a computer with a gforce 8600gt video card and after several weeks, my computer starting acting identical to what you are saying yours is doing. after troubleshooting everything as you have, i contacted the computer company and they had me exchange the video card...sure enough the new card worked just fine. I might suggest try installing a different card into your present computer or try installing your present card into another computer...this would be a step to determine if you have a faulty card.
