Did you ever get an answer to your question about not being able to

select text in word?

I had the same problem an just like you it was after a upgrade from

Microsoft.

I think the upgrade ends by resetting the mouse to some default mouse

they have.

The first time it happened to me I solved it by trying differnet mice

until one worked.

This time it is harder. I went into the control panel to make sure the

system understood what mouse I had but that does not seem to solve the

problem. It only happens in word so it is specific to the code in word

or the resets they made when they upgraded our version of word.

What have you found out?
