The 200,000 are people that have already signed the Infoworld petition

to "save" XP and in no way reflects how many people currently use and

perhaps PREFER XP over Vista.

 

Hint: Microsoft's own figures show 84% of their install base have NOT

upgraded to Vista. So it would seem better than 8 of 10 people already

using Windows don't agree with you.

 

If Vista is the future, we're screwed bad. Even Microsoft Ballmer and

Gates admit Vista "needs work". Yea, I've noticed.

Was thinking about buying a copy of XP, but decided not to. One license per

PC is good enough, and while Vista is unsuitable for my needs, the thought

of being double dipped just ticks me off.

 

Very few "home" customers have the legal ability to downgrade without at

least a purchase of XP OEM of one version or another.

We know this to be true as it has already been stated Win 7 is based on

Vista. So in fact, todays Vista users are Microsoft beta testers.

XP you say? I think slowly Microsoft is getting the message. They dusted

off mothball plans for XP becasue Vista was too fat and slow for Eee PC.

And Eee PC with Linux was and still is selling pretty good. So the choice

was to revivce XP for the Eee PC or not participate. XP will be around for

a long time to come.

If you know XP, moving to Ubuntu or Fedora is not as bad as it sounds. In

fact, the menus are much better organized.

There is no doubt a Linux based system will do the internet. Virtually

every common internet protocol out there existed on UNIX/Linux before

M-Windows. And even many that most that are not in the internet.

Let me rephrase that for you.

 

The 200,000 people felt strong enough to overtly express they want to keep

XP. Businesses are rejecting Vista whole scale and outright. To those of

140,000,000 who were force fed Vista OEM (bundling) it is uncertain 1) how

many are still running, 2) how many have been replaced and 3) how many are

satisfied. The rest is Microsoft hyperbole and conjecture but it is clear

there is a problem.

It was unfortunate they chose Vista as the base source for Win 7.

Essentially Win 7 will be regurgitated Vista. In reality, Win 7 should be a

major service pack for Vista. Triple dip coming up.

 

Buy a system with OEM Vista, license 1.

 

So ticked with Vista, you buy another copy of XP, OEM or full (or get conned

into the Ultimate route to Vista hell). The double dip.

 

Then Win 7, lets assume it is Vista fixed up. The triple dip.

 

Oh, there is a method to the MS madness. Bilk the customer.
