Failure to install five updates for office

Hi,

I have reinstalled windows (Installer V 3.01.4000.1823). Windows and office

on my PC were updated and Windows XP Service Pack 2 was installed. I am

facing problems now:

1. Shortcuts in the Start Menu to Office documents stopped working. When I

try to open (word or excel) directly from its location on C drive, it opens

with the pop up

"Prepapring to install...." and then appears an error pop "An error occured

and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair

this feature?"

After I say yes, another pop up comes "microsoft excel can not install the

necessary files due to window installer error 1635. The patch package could

not be opened....". (same is true for word)

2. Every time I try to repair, install, reinstall, or remove the office (I

have both the

Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 and Microsoft Office Professional

Edition 2003 on my PC), I get the following error message:

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package

exists and

that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that

this is a valid Windows Installer patch package." Thus I am unable to repair

or uninstall the office from my PC.

3. I understand that this problem occured after I installed Windows XP

Service Pack . Unfortunately, I am unable to install the following four

updates to Office due

problem similar to that explained under 2 above:

Security Update for Office 2003 (KB934180)

Security Update for Office 2003 (KB920813)

Security Update for Office 2003 (KB924424)

Update for Office 2003 (KB919029)

Probably the problem will be rectified if these updates could be installed.

But I don't know from where to get the necessary patch.

Will some one help me find the solution? Thanks for the help in anticipation.
