Ubuntu v6 to 7: less than a year (June 2006 - April 2007)

XP to Vista: 6 years (October 2001 - Janurary 2007)

And I'm not head over heels anything. I'm just objective enough to see the

benefits of both systems (well 2k and XP on the MS side. I've still yet to

see anything worthy of moving myself to Vista yet)

Get with the program Frank. I said "moving myself to Vista". I can still

have it installed to test, use, and play with. And besides less than a

week ago I already told you I had it installed.

Hummm...sometimes I'm not so sure when someone who claims to be 'with

the program" is "in the program" or "has the program" or...well...we'll see.

Personally, I don't like the idea of replacing my OS every 6 months. I want

a machine I can use for daily light entertainment (internet, not video

editing) and not have to reinstall my other apps (games, gadgets, etc) for

several years at a time. Of course, this is home unit, I decide. At work,

well, whatever the boss is willing to pay for, that's what we use. -)

With Windows, replacing it every six months would be a royal PITA. With

Ubuntu, we're talking a few hours.

You're extremely ill informed and continually lie and spread FUD about

Windows.

Grow up you stupid linux loser troll!

Haven't you made a big enough fool out of yourself already?

Or is more on the way?

I've wiped the drive and installed windows clean in just an afternoon,

including tweaks and settings, and installing optional programs, but only

about once every 3 or 4 years on each unit. I'm getting lazy in my old age.

I work at work, so I want my home computer to run stable with very little

fuss and bother. Point and click simplicity. I read online newspapers

instead of buying paper, because it's easiest. I get the weather alerts

instantly and silently, without interrupting my wife's movie or soap opera,

nice and easy. Computers are a tool for me, not a hobby. Swimming is

recreation here, not a competitive sport. When I'm home, I want an average

system for an average home user.

Then you don't want Windows. Ubuntu does all of the above and more and

doesn't need an anti virus or anti malware programs.

If not, do you give lessons on how to be a damn fool Frankie? Seems to

be the only thing you're good at.

No, I want I like. You want what you like. Mac users prefer Mac and iMac.

It's really that simple. What's really funny is the way spam it thread to

thread like a "Jehovahs Witness" recruiting door to door. Pretty pathetc.

Not for someone that knows how to use it and has an open mind to learn

No one says you have to replace your OS every 6 months. If you're happy

with the way things are working than stick with what you have (which is why

I still have Win2k as my primary OS). I'm not 100% sure on this (so maybe

one of the other Linux know-it-all's can clarify) but I also don't think you

have to replace the OS.....When a new version is released you can just

update your system similar to how Windows Update works.
