What else?

Most people don't install their own OSs. They get them from major OEMs,

and most of them only supply computers with Windows.

When the majority of people haven't even tried Ubuntu, how could they

come to an informed conclusion about it?

Now if you said, "the majority of the voices in my head have come to the

same conclusion," then I would have found that to be more believable.

And of course your couple of days of experience with Ubuntu makes you an

expert.

You have the ill informed opinion. Ubuntu is just a blip on the radar of OS

products.

Nothing to write home about.

Name a program that doesn't have an equivalent in Ubuntu that your

Ubuntu has equivalents for most of that. Only Word and sometimes Excel

is used by most people and Open Office handles that fine for most users.

Can you name something that your average home or home office user would

I haven't found the corporate tax alternative yet, but that doesn't mean

there ain't one.

Home users could just use TurboTax online with Ubuntu though.

I am not going to spend the time and look for products that are equivalent

between platforms. Doesn't interest me. That is the problem with Ubuntu.

People don't want to have to search for what might work and install it.

They don't want to do it. Most users just want their computer to run.

Ubuntu is a pain in the ass for the majority of the people who try it.

Look at what you said, you have people asking YOU to install it for them.

You even stated that Ubuntu is easy to install. So then genius, why can't

they do it?

Photo editing software, tax software, word processing. Users can't find

those at the store. There are no packages they can get in a box from

Bestbuy, etc...

Business users don't want OpenSores software either. Millions of companies

would rather pay MS than to use OpenSores Office. What does that tell you?

OpenSores Office just isn't worth the price. Oh, OpenSores Office is free

and businesses are still using MS Office. Gotta tell you something. Maybe

OO sucks!

And that is a BIG Just FYI

Don't need to save my money for Windows 7. All my MS software is FREE.

Visual Studio, SQL Server Enterprise Edition, Office 2007, Vista Ultimate,

XP Professional. I can install it on as many PC's as I want. All FREE.

Change "mainstream" to "Windows-only" apps. And many of those apps will

work with Wine.

that use both Windows and Linux.
