Had to upgrade to a new PC, and most every new PC comes with Vista

pre-installed, no options for XP.

I try hooking up my 2 year old scanner - no Vista driver.

I try hooking up a webcam a friend gave me - no Vista driver

So the whole purpose of upgrading to Vista was so I could go out and buy all

new hardware!!

This will be my last PC with a microsoft OS.

Oh? You've found an OS that has more compatibility than Windows?

Pray tell what it is?

There is a new version Ubuntu 8.04 coming out next Thursday, why don't you

give it a try. See whether you like it and what it can offer you.

So you failed to do research before you bought your new PC, typical for

people that rant afterwards about compatibility issues. If you HAD done

research you would have determined that you can still get a PC with XP on

it, you would have also determined that the hardware you mentioned wasn't

compatible.

I think you are a TROLL.

Your problem is easily solved! You can purchase a

Windows Vista Certified scanner for under $50 and

a new webcam for under $25.

Microsoft is NOT responsible for hardware drivers. The hardware

manufacturers are.

Have you checked the manufacturer web sites yet?

He is already having enough trouble. Why put some piece of crap OS like

Ubuntu in the mix? You think he doesn't like computers now? Wait till he

trys and get Ubuntu to do what he wants. He will toss the baby out with the

bathwater.

You are a perfect candidate

Research shows 99% of Microsoft fanboys are clueless lunkheads that

are prone to have endless hissy fits if anyone dares to write factual

Wireless USB adapter did not work (D-Link), No sound drivers (Creative Fx-i)

Could not get widescreen resolutions to work (Nvidia 8800GT) never mind

getting software to work right.

And did you use the Live CD to TEST all that or did you just dive right in

like the idiot it seems you are?

Blaming and insulting a frustrated customer is the worst thing that could

happen, assuming you are pro MS and not send by Linux community, otherwise,

you have done an excellent job.

You and a few other fanbois really are the biggest enemy of the company by

insulting and attacking their paying and suffering customers. Linux and

Apple all owe you a big thank you. Keep Up the Good Work!!!

Well the "customer" in this case never looked (apparently) at the

manufacturers websites of both his scanner or his webcam for updated drivers

and then blames MICROSOFT when they don't work.

A DORK of the first water.

I assume you are not born to know that or maybe you are and you are born to

know anything and everything.

But ordinary people like myself are learned from someone at some point. So

people may have made mistakes or maybe it's not totally wrong (e.g. generic

drivers should have been included?) and what's wrong for the customer to

complain? Don't like complaints? Don't sell products.

The OP may not be technically savvy to know that and that is my point! So

Suggesting someone spend MORE after blowing a pile of money on Vista

that you keep crowing is the best OS "ever". Wow, I'm impressed with

you. Honest.

Reality check:

Cost of Vista Home Premium.... apx $120

required new graphic card..... apx $180

add 1 GM memory............... apx $110

new printer................... apx $150

new scanner................... apx $ 80

new wecam..................... apx $ 40

$680

Aggravation and time to get all

this new stuff to work......... priceless

So the fact that he comes here and just rants against MS is of no

consequence?
