If I didn't know better, I'd say you were an MS hater looking for reasons to

hate Vista. I mean honestly, 1 extra click from XP? Is that really so bad?

Is it too hard for you to figure out?

'Work' computers are tailored to do the job which you have been employed to

do. Home computers are aimed squarely at general use. For the novice, Vista

does not have any more to confuse than XP ever had.

Microsoft don't want you to pay out for anything. It is not in their

interests. And the only program feature missing for the 'novice' user is the

most hated of all integrated Windows mini-apps, Windows Fax which,

incidentally, was NOT installed by default Windows 9x variants. In fact,

many never even knew it was on the Win 9x CD..

I wouldn't say it's for guru's, anymore than any other OS by windows.

Schools operate by budget. Vista is NOT cheap. It's the MOST expensive OS

windows ever created.

>

>Any suggestions how to fax from this OS since it was included in XP.

In Windows Vista:

Click the Windows Start button ().

Click All Programs.

Click Windows Fax and Scan.

right there in the 'help and support section on FAX. Course that doesn't mean

it's there. It's not there on my machine. The word fax can't be found anywhere

on my machine, but that could also be because I've never enabled the modem and

possibly didn't install anything re: fax. You need to use a modem, because IIRC

fax still operates at best at 14400 baud. or 9600.

Before XP, I used Windows 2000 fax and before that 98 and 95 fax. All

worked wonderfully, although XP's is better than the others.

I tried it.

Yep, 3 clicks each. However Vista was noticeably slower even though the

hardware is much newer and faster.

There is no "Graphics Properties-Display Settings" when right clicking on

the Desktop that is a default part of Vista.

Thanks for playing.

Are you guys done with your line jerk?

From the initial Personalize page you can't change one setting. You've

gotta do some more clicking to get to other pages to change any setting.

Not so with XP. Plus it was the basically the same as W2K, and 9x before

that.

Personalize is just change for the sake of change, not for ease of use.

This page says $69.

http://www.snappysoftware.com/jsorderform.htm#checkorder

the excuse for this stupid and horrible design was to make it easier for

even a granny to use... that's what an MSFT idiot said. I say its worse than

the way XP had, in which you could see all the tabs and select..

In IE they added tabs, in the display settings they removed tabs...

I don't see any logic behind this.. vista is a pile of CRAP like no other

I would gladly slap the idiot who thought of this across his face with a

rotten fish

you mr clamshell are clueless

let me ask you this

on xp you are in display properties and with the tabs you can switch with

one click to go to themes, screensavers, desktop(wallpaper), but in VISTA

CRAPISTA you have to close the window and open another from that horrid list

of items that makes you wanna puke..

ITS BAD DESIGN YOU MORON!

It isn't available in Vista Basic and no-so Premium versions.

Does amaze me, like file sharing, Premium isn't so premium. Missing all

sorts of stuff. Just adding fax to the list.

Course that doesn't

mean

it's there. It's not there on my machine. The word fax can't be found

anywhere

on my machine, but that could also be because I've never enabled the modem

and

possibly didn't install anything re: fax. You need to use a modem, because

IIRC

fax still operates at best at 14400 baud. or 9600.

Yeah. When older is easier, why would I want to change?

> Is it too hard for you to figure out?

No. I have no problems figuring it out. But when tasks become more

difficult instead of easier, it that a good change or a bad change?

To me, ease of use is more important than eye candy changes.

For you, you might prefer all the bells, whistle, and flashy lights

rather than ease of use. Some people like to get whipped too.
