I want to install kompozer under

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Kompozer\...

When I try to mkdir ...

C:\Program Files\> mkdir "Mozilla Kompozer"

I get access denied

Can somebody make a constructive suggestion?

    Run the command prompt as administrator. Right-click the shortcut, select

    Run as Administrator from the context menu.

    Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Command prompt.

    With Vista, if you install to Program Files, it breaks many programs.

    Install it somewhere else and avoid the headaches.

    and then I install it under c:\users\somebodyelse\something

    and then I ...

    I strongly suggest you let it install to it's default location.

    You must right-click and click "Run as administrator."

     

    He already knew where the command prompt was, because he was already trying

    to use it.

    programs that write to the Programs directory.

    Many programs write data to the folder they are installed into.

    Under Vista, in the Program Files folder, that is against the Nanny's rules.

    So installing to a different directory allows the program to work as

    designed, not the way MS wants it to.

    I have most of my programs installed outside of Program Files, and they all

    work just fine.

    Maybe you need the Vista Nanny to decide what program can write what and

    where I don't.

    Remember, in Windows the same thing can usually be done in more than one

    than the code writers who actually wrote the code do.

    Default has a purpose. Default is faster and more stable than trying to

    outsmart the OS and/or the software you're using.

    Maybe that's a clue as to why you and a few other fukkin idiot losers

    can't seem to get their one little install of Vista to run properly huh?

    I've tweaked it so it runs fine, I just plain don't like it.

    I prefer to boot to XP because 'it just works'!
