If you are not happy with Vista, lets have a Vista free day.

Vista free day is simple. Wednesday April 2nd, make sure your Vista PC is

powered off all day. Shut it down on Tuesday, and power it back on

Thursday.

If enough people do it, MS might notice and allow use free downgrades. It

would actually be quite simple for MS to allow Vista keys to work with a

downgrade copy of XP. And better yet, allow us to download it at no charge

instead of double dipping us.

Join me on turning my Vista off for a day.

Pass this along...

As soon as you turn it off on Tuesday go take a course on Vista or read a

book... Vista for dummies... something easy like that. Once you get a bit

of a handle on it you will find Vista is quite nice and it will probably

become your favorite.

I doubt MS would know or care if vista PCs are on or off.

How would Microsoft even know that you turned your pc on or not?

Vista should be permanently turned off. Not just for one day. Francis will

tell you ...

I think I will turn on all of my Vista machines, plus I will install several

Vista VMs in Virtual PC. I'll see how many I can get running!

You do that Bob. That's probably how M$'s Vista adoption rate is climbing

above a few million boxes.

Before I reply to the above, I need you to answer a yes or no question

for me:

Are you really as stupid as your last post would imply?

I doubt Billy has the cajones to give a simple yes or no answer.

Shut off my Vista system for a day? Not on your freakin' life! I'm happy

with Vista.

Windows XP is also on this system, on a separate hard drive, but I only

boot into it now if I want to use an older software title that's not

Vista compatible.

They would. They call home with their serial numbers, if you had read about

Vista you would know that.

Very nice post. Quite true actually.

Maybe someone should post what "Vista Can Do But Linux Cannot?" It will be

a very, very short list for sure. In fact, I draw a blank.

Hey, after being ripped off with Vista, and no options to go back to XP with

that new PC that isn't a double dipping from Microsoft, I am going to get my

pounds worth.

I am not spending a cent more on MS. In fact, I already wrote the vendor

saying if you offered XP or Linux, it would be a hit! Probably would too.

I would be willing to bet if you could get those mid-range commodity PCs

with XP, XP Pro and/or RedHat or Ubuntu pre-loaded, they would move so fast

they couldn't keep them in stock.

But Vista served it's purpose, ran it for 5 weeks as I wanted to see it for

myself with a SP1 out of the way, and to give it a chance. Waited a year

for SP1 announcements, then jumped in to see the hullabaloo...to

learn...what a disappointment. Passed in my recommendation to work today,

they were interested. I said pass on Vista, keep with XP Pro or go Linux.

Funny part, they accepted it and said we hear the same elsewhere.

And I am glade I researched the mobo and the video card before I purchased,

I can get drivers for XP, XP64, Linux and even Solaris.

Vista is DOA.

If you think Vista is good out of the box and can do things Linux cannot,

please tell this group what Vista can do that Linux cannot? I haven't seen

anything yet, other than a MS-Windows root kit.

Why don't you upgrade the stuff? Is it the cha-ching factor?? $$$

Hey, Vista is XP underneath all the added APIs and confusion. The added

weight is what makes it a pig.

Even MS is planning a replacement for Vista as early as 2010...cha-ching $$$

Try running Office, Adobe CS3, any Corel software., etc...the list is at

least a mile long.

Who do you think you're fooling?

Certainly not those of us who use the major software releases on Windows

and who have been testing linux for over a decade.

Either you're brain dead or just fukkin stupid!

oh and please spare me the "linux has comparable" bullsh*t cause it doesnt.
