noble mission on this newsgroup.

My first computer was the first mac that came out in 84. I bought it for

4000 US Dollars and sold it in Venezuela for 6000 US Dollars.

Just curious, what do you need to do with Windows that you can't do with

Ubuntu?

Best you stick with your sheep-fukkin ways and your butt-buddy onthepot.

Otherwise you look like the sheep-fukkin idiot you really are when you

start with your market predictions.

You're actually extremely stupid.

So? It's just against Apple's EULA, not like it's against the law or

something. Besides, I bought the Family Pack OS X that has 5 licenses and

I'm only using 2. I'm covered.

If you were forced to buy an MS PC to use Office there would be riots in the

streets. I can not be forced to buy an Apple PC to use iLife. Same

thing. Ask IBM about forcing customers to buy hardware in order to get

software. That worked out REAL WELL for IBM in the 60s.

I QUIT using 2007 within a couple of months, as it SUCKS. 2003 is once

again, another earlier version of a product MS has botched in later

releases (Vista, Office, Flight Simulator). Previous versions are

routinely preferred to the new ones.

Sigh, yes big companies that are badly managed. MS is not badly managed.

Even if Vista had been a complete flop (too late for that now - 100 million

already sold!) MS would not go out of business. ME was a flop, Bob was a

flop. MS survived both.

> Because Vista's been out for over a year and most Windows users are using

Just like when XP had been out for over a year and most Windows users were

still using 98! You don't transition a user base of hundreds of millions

of machines in 1 year!

> Most people believe the FUD that Linux is only for geeks. Hence, my noble

You call trolling a "noble mission"? Would I be engaged in a "noble

mission" if I hung out in Linux support groups answering EVERY FRIGGIN

REQUEST FOR HELP with "nuke Linux and install Windows and all your problems

will go away!!!"?

> Just curious, what do you need to do with Windows that you can't do with

> Ubuntu?

Windows software development. Visual Studio, SQL Server, Crystal Reports,

etc. Make money from said software - not "give it away and charge for

support". Run XP, 2000 and ME (when needed) in VPC. Use familiar software

that I already have - iTunes, sync my iPods, burn DVDs with Nero, use

Office, IE, Windows Mail, Safari, AOL IM, etc.

IOW, continue doing what I have been doing for the last 25 years. I don't

want to lean everything all over again in a non-standard, niche platform.

I like the mainstream. The mainstream is where the money is.

Now, I'm sure you will say "but you can do (some/most/all) of those things

in Linux"! But so what? I'm ALREADY doing them! What's the point of

changing?

Maybe will all the income your 3 companies are generating why don't you put

Oops. you don't make that much. Maybe you can put in a bid for a liter of

the office 2008 for mac doesnt have the dreaded RIBBON !!! see here

MS always makes better versions of their software for macs, pehaps because

the mac users are more demanding for good interfaces? lol

You can sync iPods without iTunes, you can burn DVDs with Nero Linux.

Non-standand? MS doesn't play be standards! They takes standards and

piss on them, and try to force MS's idea of what standards should be on

everyone else.

> I like the mainstream. The mainstream is where the money is.

Good for you.

> Now, I'm sure you will say "but you can do (some/most/all) of those

If you see no point, that's good for you. However MS is doing its best

trying to alienate the average user, and alternatives give those people

another choice other than MS.

And competition for the PC Desktop can only help you as a user of MS

products, if you believe in capitalism. The market forces of competition

will only serve to help keep MS on its toes, and make better and better

software, and force them to sell it as cheaply as possible.

Ya'll need to understand, that consumers benefit more when there is more

competition in a market. And when it comes down to it, we are all

consumers. It is in our own self-interest to help promote competition in

the OS market.

Most Mac software is missing features of Windows software. That's why I

spend about 90% of my time in Windows and 10% in OS X.
