OTH, it's easy to reproduce by using the RGB numbers we get from color

sampling it using the eyedropper. But as far as color experts are

concerned, it's nothing but a nameless number.

That's all.

Sorry norm but those of us in the biz don't "see" colors we "read"

colors. That's how one color file is consistent from one shop to

another. It's by the numbers. Ask any print man.

You don't have the smarts to know the first thing about how to

correctly calibrate a computer monitor or TV. You proved that when you

repeatedly said the image you almost had a stoke over bitching about

was RGB 100,0,0.

You're nothing but a pompous jerk Frankie. Everybody knows it so it

really isn't necessary for me to PROVE it every day, but hey, what the

heck, its enjoyable to show you for what you really are.

I see. So you don't ever refer to any color in the language of the

common man? You can't enjoy the lovely blue sky that might be over head

on a nice day when you are not concentrating on being "in the biz"?

Well, do enjoy the wonderful world of "numbers" you see about you. In

the meantime, I will get back to enjoying the wonderful world of colors

that most people DO see.

Numbers take the subjectivity and guess work out of color files as they

go from one shop to another and then to the printer. They're not always

perfectly correct and sign off color checks are still done with your

eyes, but outputs are always numbered. It facilitates color corrections

by making them easier and they mark a reference point so you know where

you moved from and can always go back exactly to where you started. It's

not a perfect science by any means as batch colors can vary slightly

from batch to batch and so can paper.

Colors in numbers are universal.

It is the language of the printers.

And of course we all refer to reds, blues, greens, yellows, etc., that's

never going to disappear.

We only use CRT's for out putting final files. We have two high end

Sony's located in a north facing room with natural lighting. We

re-calibrated each monitor once a month. We try and keep everything the

same so our output files will not be a surprise to us. We don't use LCD

as of yet because they only display 6 bit color and not 8 bit. They use

anti-aliasing to "fool" the eyes into thinking you're seeing 8 bit

color. We expect that to change in the near future as LCD technology

advances.

That's the biz!

C'mon... that's no answer... the question remains you don't consider

yourself party to the nature of these threads? I see you and Frank going

Frank's to blame for your OT posts in this ng? Uh... no?

I didn't ask you what I should call it. I asked you what color YOU think

it is. Being as I have asked this five times now and you've dodged the

question five times, I will take it that you, too, think it's black.

Course, you didn't reply to the rest of my post but what else is new?

What an arrogant as*hole you really are! Give it a break, ok? The

taskbar in Vista is fountain filled and depending on where you sample it

the colors could be described as anything from light reddish brown to

dark brown.

But it does not look nor does it sample anywhere as black.

Got it?

Wise up alias. You're really and truly starting to make a real ass out

of yourself. The jpg you posted has a taskbar that, in my eyes goes from

light reddish brown to dark brown. Your pal adam never mentioned that

the taskbar is fountain filled and depending on where you color sample

it you'll always get a different reading ever time.

But nowhere in the fill do I get a black RGB 0,0,0 reading.

Bragging! What's that all about alias? I've been in this business since

'78. That I known what I'm doing is not considered bragging by any standard.

I have no idea what you're holding your breath about?

You just do get it do you? You have the audacity to come into this Vista

ng and do nothing but slam MS and Vista, which you don't have then

openly promote linux and wonder why people don't like or respect you?

Are you that crass and clueless?

I guess so, huh. As you have been asked and told not to do it yet you

have no respect at all for others or the fact that your promoting

another os in this ng is not, repeat is not, acceptable.

But you simple don't care. Talk about not having any class at all.

You're the prime example pal.

Still looks black to me, although if you hover the mouse over an open

program, it turns blue.

So, the original post was complaining about Ubuntu being brown and now

you're saying that Vista's task bar is dark brown?

Black, brown, red, gray.... it really depends on the users'

settings and how much transparency (if any) they are using,

and if a window is minimized or maximized. On my laptop,

I have transparency disabled, when a window is maximized,

the taskbar looks black.

Only the Wintards like you have a problem. Others click on this:

http://www.ubuntu.com and get a real OS.

Helpful is the correct adjective.

Only to Wintards like you who think that insulting someone is the way to

refute their argument.

I get feedback and many people are happy I turned them on to Ubuntu

through this group. Get over it and live with it because it ain't going

away. You will see more and more people posting here about Ubuntu. Ain't

life grand?
