Vista is a disaster. We all know it. I am upset and I want my money back or I

want a permanent fix. You do not have to be a geek to figure this game out.

How long do you think it should take reading all the tips and quips to get

all this vista crp to work smoothly. This is an outright rip off. Anybody

interested, I may need alittle input on writing this petetion.

You would probably get better results taking some computer classes at

your local community college.

and you need a spell checker.

Sure there are some that have had no problems, but this OS is released to

Dont think its a disaster? Google a bit. See what comes up...

Nah, its you who need the classes, since you seem to not be able to grasp

the big picture of how bad vista really is and the global consequences of

such trash OS.

The more you learn about vista, the more mistakes you see it has.

Trying to pull that snobby "superiority complex" vista boy trick, just

backfired flat in your face!!!!

It shows how little you really know! LOL

Get a life - or better yet - do a search on Amazon for a "Vista for

Not in my book. And I doubt all those that bought Vista on Vista-capable

machines feel as you do.

And if chewing up much more memory, some new but basically useless eye

Woe woe woe. Obviously I am not asking for response or signature from the

people who are down with vista. Why are you even responding and nasty too. Go

back to your own business boys and girls. It should be obvious this one is

not for you.

To the folks that responded with the same thoughts in mind, do you think it

matters which computer manufacturer you have? If so please do tell which

system you have, and lets compare. We can prove those creeps are wrong.

My biggest issue with Vista is the learning curve. It was easy to go from

Windows98 to WindowsNT and Windows2k to XP because they weren't all that

different. You just added to your store of knowledge with each one. Vista

has so many very different ways of doing things the way we became accustomed

to. I think for some users, this might be the first time it has been

necessary to make changes to the way they are working with an OS.

I very much prefer XP because that is what I know well and I am comfortable

with. I can count on one hand the number of blue screens I had with XP on

hundreds of installations over the years. In just a few months, I have had

dozens of blue screens on one laptop running Vista. I don't blame Vista for

that as much as I do the hardware and marginally compatible software. Every

blue screen is a learning opportunity.

That's a completely different issue. I believe there's a class action in the

process of being brought against MS for advertising "Vista Capable" machines

that weren't.

I have bought a new machine with Vista pre-installed, and it is running

fine.

Just bought a new laptop (as the old gave up the ghost)

Toshiba Satellite L40 18Z

Intel duo core T2330 1.6 GHz processor

1 GB RAM (another 1GB in the post)

80 GB HDD

Vista Home Premium pre-installed

Office 2007 (which I already had)

As someone who was fairly knowledgeable about XP, I've found the transition

interesting, relatively easy, and the machine running very much OK.

SP1 update went flawlessly, with the slight exception of the minimised

application thumbnails - but that seems to have been fixed after a re-boot

when updating wireless card driver.

Overall? Pretty OK I should say...

What happened to:

Good for you. I also have a vista install that works fine on newer

hardware. However, I have XP install on computer with hardware at least

4 years old with less memory, and it outperforms Vista SP1 in file

transfers, both locally and via my network.

Vista is a pig of an OS. And it really offers no real benefits over XP

to the average consumer. Vista is just MS's latest attempt to get people

to buy software unnecessarily.
