I've been reading a lot about this and from what I understand, a user switching to another program means that the first one has to save its state and shut down.

What I can't get my head around, is why this is such a big deal?

It's not a desktop machine. It's a PDA ... no-one is going to be compiling code on it while waiting for a train.

I have a WM6 PDA and since the whole screen is taken by each app I'm running, then I'm not really sure what multi-tasking is giving me ... except the nasty feeling that any programs hanging around in memory may not have saved data.

Am I missing something?
