24/7/52 would be 24 hours a day 7 days a week 52 days a year. 14%

uptime isn't much of an SLA.

Most places proud of their uptime claim 24/7/365. So I was wondering

what Steve did with the other 313 days. Scheduled maintenance? Or a lot

of holidays?

I'll tell you what he is doing...scamming little old ladies out of their

hard earned cash! He tells them their computers are malware and virus

infected and then sells them a copy of ubuntu that he got for free. In

reality, there is nothing at all wrong with their computers. They may be

full of cookies and may need to have their "temp" folders deleted and or

a few drivers updated but nothing like he wants us all to believe.

He's a known and admitted liar...hell he proly lies to his family,

friends and everyone (even his sheep!) all the time.

The authorities will someday get his lying, scamming ass!

There is much evidence that Ubuntu has as many security holes as windows if

not more.

The only thing alias could do to help Ubuntu would be to shut up.

Pillock. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Are you too thick to understand what's wrong with the more common (but

faulty) 24/7/365?

I'm not qualified. I am a normal user who feels the need to help when

and where I can.

I don't recommend anyone do that unless they're qualified and have the

time and inclination.

Linux isn't a religion or a marriage one has to "commit to".

I'm neither.

I like XP and use it every day. You have me confused with the stereotype

in your FUDded mind.

The last XP computer I switched to Ubuntu couldn't boot up, not in safe,

normal, last configuration, etc. Not cookies that messed that puppy up,

son. No XP CD so reinstall of that would cost money they didn't want to

spend. I installed Ubuntu and all the programs they wanted made sure

their hardware peripherals worked properly and charged them for the

*service*, not the OS and invoiced them accordingly. They've had this

set up and are happy as clams. None of the family was a "little old

lady". Those only inhabit your and Bill Yanaire's twisted minds, along

with your sheep. You're the liar with a limited imagination, not me.

Well, if you want to make up your own words feel free to sit on a

wall until you fall down and all the king's men happen by.

24/7/52, ha, ha, why not...24/7/13 (24 hours a day 7 days a week

for each of the 13 lunar months)...or...24/7/.001 (24 hours a day 7 days

a week for each 1/1000th of the current millenium)...or... Great Ghu,

"Never mind what everyone else does. I work for Microsoft", is that it?

Whenever someone tells me they run 24/7/365 the first thing I ask

is "Do they staff three shifts". 90% of the people claiming 100% service

mean "...but if you call after 5PM you'll have to wait for an engineer

to drive back to the data center if something goes wrong".

I don't know what I'd ask if someone told me they run 24/7/52

because NO ONE'S EVER SAID THAT TO ME.

Vista has stability problems that are posted here every single day where

people are complaining about the infamous BSOD and Vista computers not

even able to boot up. Oops.

Ubutu is obviously cheaper than Vista. If you think otherwise, get help.

Isn't 52 more accurate than 365?

I'm not Incan so my calendar math isn't the best. It should be 27/7/365.25

or something

It's only more accurate if people know what you mean. It's

sort of like "northbridge" and "southbridge". Is it really accurate

to call them north and south? No, but people know what you mean...

Anyway, the whole thing was just a joke, geeze, all he had to

They post similar problems in the linux groups too. Opps.

To the users here Ubuntu is not cheaper, they already have Vista.

In fact Ubuntu costs them money in download bandwidth and in time.

So by a reasonable judgment Ubuntu costs more than Vista here.

You won't like it and will cry but facts are facts.

Some of these guys actually seem to be quite intelligent, but they ruin it

by acting like they do. My ethos has always been that you use what what

works for you. Who the hell cares what you use as long as it does what you

need it to do? I came here when the Acer I got came preloaded with Vista.

Initially to get help if I needed it, then to help others when I could. I

have done this since the Fidonet days. Even back then we had the dipsh*ts

doing what they do now. Why they choose to make themselves look like morons

is beyond me.

He also does not do his homework as is normal with the smacktards. Here are

a few of links he conveniently ignores...

http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/linux_administrators_security_guide/17_Linux_and_Viruses.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_computer_viruses

http://www.desktoplinux.com/articles/AT3307459975.html

What he also fails to mention is that with only what, a 0.63 market share,

there isn't as attractive a target for the virus writers. And as shown,

there are not many, if any Linux apps comparable to the choices for Windows

to give users a true reason to switch. Linux excels as a server. Who cares

if there are 25,000 free programs available for it when none of them are

worth a damn?

Mike, you hit the nail on the head. He is a zealot. Who cares about facts?

He doesn't need them, as long as his imbecilic agenda is satisfied. IF, he

has been in the business as long as he says he has, he would take an

UNBIASED view of things as those of us that HAVE been do. Typical behavior

though.

If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck....it's a

duck.

Moral: You act like smacktards, you get treated like it. I've never called

Stephan Rose a smacktard, because he never acts like one. Dipsh*ts like

Alias, NoStop, and those that act like them damn well are. If you can't take

an unbiased view, then you (in the general sense) get treated like you do.

It's that simple.
