Obviously the guy in charge of Windows Product Management is lacking even a

modicum of intelligence for buying a high spec laptop that turned out to be

a brick.

Microsoft's own most senior executives were completely bamboozled by the

"Vista capable" labelling scheme. "I personally got burned by the Intel 915

chipset on a laptop that I PERSONALLY (e.g. with my own $$$) [bought]", said

Mike Nash, Corporate Vice President, Windows Product Management, who bought

a "Vista capable" laptop, only to find it couldn't run the Aero interface.

"I now have a $2100 email machine," he concluded.

Most likely some did, some didn't. I have my doubts that it was or even

Thanks!

She's still in need of some work but she's coming along pretty good.

Just rebuilt the passenger side headlight motor this past weekend.

Probably putting in a new fuel pressure regulator sometime this month to

hopefully solve the occasional hard cold starts I have.

That should iron out the last few minor mechanical annoyances to where I

can start focusing on the exterior / interior.

Redo the seats, new paintjob, new stereo / speakers, new window tint!

And maybe sometime in a year or two, drop out the V6 and put in a 4.9L V8

with a 6-speed manual. :)

Some (a few manufactures) were putting "Vista Capable" stickers on systems

that might turn out to be "Vista Premium" -- Remember, this was happening

just as Release Candidate 2 was starting to be available. Actual RTM was

still 5 months away. No one knew what was in the RTM yet.

It certainly doesn't follow that all people working in a particular

organization know anything about the product. My guess would be that some of

the cleaners probably knew more about what Vista would run on.. :-)

Seeing as how you're proly from mexico it's easy to understand why you

don't know the difference between canada and America.

I believe that MS had a training video for all stores and their

employees who would be selling computers with Vista already installed.

The store employees were supposed to be educated in the difference as to

what the different "stickers' on the computers meant. MS did make the

effort to get it out to all those involved in the sale of Vista loaded

computers. Obviously, some stores didn't have a very good follow thru on

the difference.

It's a tricky situation where the blame will be placed and will only be

sorted out by the courts...well maybe sorted out.

Why, that friendly person in the computer store of course. You remember him?

don't you. The one who palmed you off with a printer which barely worked

with XP, let alone anything newer. I liked the part where he said "you don't

need a fast printer. The speed makes no difference at all" while standing in

front of a 200 unit pyramid of the darned things marked 'Manager's Special'.

LOL!

But seriously, you mean those computer stores like Walmart and Best Buy?

I'm sure that the specially trained associates in those stores have

always clearly explained the difference between vista capable and vista

ready.

The question was actually a serious question. Your average

computer-illiterate person will go to a Best Buy because they DO think

of it as a computer store, as a place that is an authority on selling

computers. They will see a label that says "Vista..." on a computer

(whether it says capable or ready) and assume, "oh, it has a Vista label

on it, it should run vista just fine. Besides, it comes preloaded with

Vista...". This kind of consumer will consider themselves an educated

shopper (when really they still have no clue). Do you disagree?

How is that? I said Canada is not part of America. It isn't. It's part

I'm not, North, Central and South America are known by educated people

live. Just because the ego inflated uneducated US Americans think they

They should have showed this training video to the executives at

MickeyMouse, because obviously they were confused about wtf it was they
