Guest John Olbert Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 I use a web search program called Copernic Agent Professional on Vista Ultimate. Up unto Friday it worked without error. On Friday I installed a number of updates from the Microsoft update site for Vista. After the updates the program failed to start with the error "Cannot initialize folders". Multiple reboots, uninstalls/installs failed to solve the problem. I tried a Restore to a previous point on Vista but the Restore failed. I manually (one by one) removed all the updates made on 7/13/07 and rebooted the computer. The program still fails. Also performed uninstall/re-installs. Still fails. I used a debugger and found that the dialog box with the error was thrown when the file skchui.dll was loaded-- .... 'CopernicAgent.exe': Loaded 'D:\Windows\System32\sfc_os.dll', Symbols loaded (source information stripped). 'CopernicAgent.exe': Loaded 'D:\Windows\System32\setupapi.dll', Symbols loaded (source information stripped). 'CopernicAgent.exe': Loaded 'D:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\skchui.dll', Binary was not built with debug information. 'CopernicAgent.exe': Unloaded 'D:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\skchui.dll' I check on the file skchui.dll on the internet and found that there were references to some problems. It suggested that the problem may have something to do with Microsoft Office 2003 and its Ink technology. One suggested a way to turn off the Ink capabiloity in Office 2003. I tried this. Rebooted and re-installed. Problem remained. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. -- John Olbert Quote
