| well well, whaddayaknow...

|

|

| Wallington, a division chief in the Army's office of enterprise

| information systems, says the military is quietly working to integrate

| Macintosh computers into its systems to make them harder to hack.

| That's because fewer attacks have been designed to infiltrate Mac

| computers, and adding more Macs to the military's computer mix makes

| it tougher to destabilize a group of military computers with a single

| attack, Wallington says.

|

| now you KNOW that if the U.S. military is considering switching to

| macs M$ must be in trouble... this is truly music to my ears....

| and I hope one day they get into SERIOUS trouble, financial and

| otherwise (legal, for example), for the piece of crap they have

| released to the world and made pass for a professionally-developed

| OS.. which it definitely is NOT...

|

Note that the US Army has mandated that Vista replace Windows XP. I'm not stating when.

However, The Army is SUGGESTING the move to MACs because MACs are less of a target of

hackers and hacktevism.

The MAC computers will be made available through the Army Small Computer Program (PM-ASCP) - https://ascp.monmouth.army.mil/

a subordinate of the Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO-EIS) - http://www.eis.army.mil/.

|

| But will the Army deserve it too? If anything will bring Mac hackers into

| view, this will.

|

| Be careful what you wish for. It could come back to bite you on the butt..

|

Yes !

Remember what the latest MAC computer OS' is based on.

|

| You should also note that "adding more Macs to the military's computer mix "

| does not represent a wholesale switch away from Windows but is just adding

| more other systems to the military mix. The year on year procurement of

| additional PC and server devices is huge so adding in a few more Macs is no

| big deal.

The Army has "mandated" a switch to Vista and Office 2007.

There is NO mandate on MAC computers.

What are you talking about home user? Do you hulisinate like this all of the

time about evil MS? <g>

You got a dream that's not going to happen in your lifetime. You'll be dust

in your grave when and if it happens that MS falls. You might want to stop

daydreaming on something you have absolutely no control over it and daydream

on something you might have control over in your otherwise worthless life on

thins Earth.

It's already happening ... one government at a time, are switching their

infrastructure away from Microsoft. It's starting at the city level, state

level and in some cases now, the national level. The more our elected

politicians wake up and smell the coffee and start becoming responsible for

You, scummy Indian insulted MS with this thoughtless, idiotic statement. In

Jan 2008 Bill Gates and Charles Simonyi donated together $30M for LSST

(Large Synoptic Survey Telescope) a 465M project for the next generation of

Universe exploration hardware.

How much have you contributed to anything? I mean except hatred and sh*it

you deposit into your lavaratory?

It is not the first contribution Bill Gates have made to charities of

various persuasions. You fuc*king lefties have thrashed millions out of him

and Melinda for your idiotic undertakings. Truly, the more he gives, the

more hatred he inspires.

Google on the other hand contributed nothing to the project. I's been

announced that it "joined" the project. What a pathetic contrast!

Jan 2008: LSST Receives $30M from Charles Simonyi and Bill Gates

Jan 2008: LSST at the 2008 AAS meeting

Nov 2007: M1/M3 Mirror Construction Pictures

July 2007: LSST Receives $3 Million from Keck and TABASGO Foundations

Jan 2007: Google joins Large Synoptic Survey Telescope Project

Sept 2005: LSST receives $14.2 Million National Science Foundation Design

and Development Award Help build the "New Sky" .

The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) is a proposed ground-based

8.4-meter, 10 square-degree-field telescope that will provide digital

imaging of faint astronomical objects across the entire sky, night
