We purchased 10 Open License TSE Cals and installed and activated the license

server and all is well with that. However the new clients are still grabbing

the temporary licenses. I have gone to HKEY Local

Machine\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing and deleted that whole key. However

when device connects to the Terminal Server again it grabs another Temp

License. How do we stop this? We purchased Device CALs.

Thanks

Shaun

I suppose your clients are Windows machines?

When a client first connects the license server _always_ issues a

temporary license which is converted into a permanent license upon the

second successful logon.

I hope this helps.

Yes they are windows machines. To be specific they are WYSE Thin clients.

I'm wondering if the "Write Disabled" feature is going to affect this.

Might have to do some testing.

Thanks

Yes, although I'd be surprised if it was interfering, it doesn't

actually do anything anymore.

Re: Open License Installed however clients still taking temporary

I removed the write protect on the device and rebooted it twice and connected

to the Terminal Server and still the same issue. However some other devices

are now connecting via the Open License. Very weird, there is no consistency

on what MS says about the way it connects.

I'll play it by ear for the next few days and see what happens. However the

Workstations have had no issues, just the Thin Devices.
