Don't buy any hardware. Nobody forces you to do it. I had this problem with

The first part of this advice has nothing to do wit hardware. I gave you a

list of drivers.

I am sharing my experience. Don't spend your money. I am against it. Keep

blaming Vista.

Got back to XP, am running SP1 RTM on one PC and it is better, but

many basic bugs were not fixed.

Never mind, Alias kicked me in the head and I'm feeling much better

now.

I am kind of suspicious of your Irish ancestry. You mangle English

occasionally, I don't think your language is colloquial enough and you don't

seem to use street slang. I do not mean street-street. Just a bit of a

flavor of modernity. On the other hand I haven't been in reading your posts

too much: not too much interested.

OK, it's to go back to the first question. Again, I am speaking from my

personal experience. I am a developer and I need very deep understanding of

certain aspects of OS, not even the user interface we are discussing here.

In the past I had spent years working with non-MS stuff and finally

realized that I wasted a lot of time. I had to catch up. It was painful. All

those software packages I worked with went down the drain because their

sponsors (companies) could not survive, could not upgrade, could not provide

new versions and they went under.

MS is the only one that serviced. In the process it has become a monster in

terms of the knowledge base. It is enormous. I will spend years trying to

burrow thru many things I need.

People who waste time on Linux/Ubuntu, Solaris will pay a price later. This

may not be so painful for an ordinary user, however, you never know. Even an

ordinary user faces with what we all are facing in Vista. I think MS is on a

roll, It will be getting more complex software wise. It is a phenomenon.

Just recently new classes were introduced in C# (Linq). I haven't even

touched them yet. I think people should think seriously about taking MS way.

This is my private opinion. PRIVATE. I think Ubuntu is a toy and in some

circles is used as a vehicle to sell cheep computers overseas. You never

know where this money goes.

On that Ubuntu website I quoted before you can clearly see that most of the

users are nuts.

I see. So everyone is welcome to have an opinion as long as it agrees

Is it a fundamental problem ? I can't answer that, there wasn't much info

to go on here about your actual problem.

I'm sure you'd had many problems for years....some of them even related to

XP.

I've noticed that when you get cornered you try and put words into

others mouths.

In this case you'll notice I didn't say anything even close to your

response.

Maybe you should try some other tactic in order to win...?

If you have "new gear" then you have a different problem. "New gear" should

have come designed for Vista. If you have a combination of "new gear" and

"old gear" then it is possible XP may be better. Note that this isn't a

Vista thing but a new OS thing. Ask Apple PowerPC users about it. Think back

to when XP was released and how poor some Windows 98 systems worked when you

tried to upgrade to XP. Things change. Combining old and new doesn't always

work.

And the reason you think I care if you believe me or not is? But, hell,

I'll play, my grandfather -- who was born in Ireland -- told me a joke

An Irishman and a Scotsman were equidistant from two bus stops. The

Try me. You still haven't answered as to when one should use "a" or "an"

Let's not.
