Why? So we have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see a message? Bottom

posting never made any sense to me.

Sorry, there is no way I am bottom posting. Top posting is more convenient.

Having to scroll through lines and lines of previous posts is time

consuming I have better things to do with my time.

But maybe bottom posting isn't the best either.

Maybe we can do both.

Such a lame excuse...no time. No time to hit the scroll whee a few times

?

Here's another fine example of why top-posting can be bad.

Do you see the quoted text above ? That was the entire text automatically

put in my reply when I hit reply. (Of course it makes little difference

on this thread, but a longer thread it could.)

That was because after YOU top post, you're lame non-conventional MS

Usenet client auto-top-posts and then adds a sig to the end above

whatever you are replying to.

Oooops, real newsreaders don't typically quote past or including the --

sig delimiter.

So OP, REPLY1 TO OP (top-posted w/sig), REPLY TO REPLY1....

So the REPLY TO REPLY1 has now lost any and all content from the OP that

REPLY1 may have been addressing and that REPLY may have been commenting

on.

The date and time was 1/31/2008 10:48 AM, and on a whim, DanS pounded

out on the keyboard:

And only Mike Hall saw that and was polite enough to change. Most of

the other MVP's know about the flaw in MS clients, know what the

delimiter does, and still do nothing. Real professionalism, isn't it?

Some of the MVP's *here* are far from being true professionals. I guess

it's the MS attitude.....

I don't care how it affects anyone/anything other than me. I am going to

do whatever/however I want and noone can stop me.

But I digress..... A quick one-point top-posted reply to a very short

one-point post is no big deal. Once the discussion gets a few threads

deep, and multiple points are being addresssed, there really is no other

way to reply except inline.....

Exactly. If every post had only one reply, top posting would be fine,

like email usually is.

And the delimiter when top posting blows away any prior text anyway, so

it becomes all about the top posters one comment.

The LEAST one could do is fix OE/WM by using QuoteFix, so a delimiter

wouldn't be inserted when they top post.

Judicious editing would seem to help, and I don't like scrolling through

innumerable posts either. BTW, I don't use OE for newsgroups. Does that

make me cooler? Hmm, do use OE for email, though. Guess they cancel out.
