About a month ago I lost sound on my laptop. So I found the Disk and

reinstalled the sound. Well far beyond me thinking that I lost the volume

controller also but I did and it kept telling me that I needed to install it

under Printers. Well of course I could not figure that one out because I

could not figure out what I needed to install. I gave up on it and did

without sound because I am lazy. But now My uncle calls me because I built

him a Desktop system 2 years ago and he has the exact same problem and he

live thousands of miles away from me so I know I did screw his system up

also. Please help. He has a

Gigabyte 7VM400M-RZ motherboard with integrated sound (VIA 1616/1617 codec)

Athalon Sempron processor.

I sent him to Gigabytes website to download and install the drivers. He

lives in the countryside of Ohio so all he has is dialup still so it takes

him 3 hours to download the drivers. He installed them and they worked fine

until he restared his computer now he has no sound again. When he went into

device manager there were no splats, but there was also nothing that said

that he had a sound card either. Went into services.msc and checked windows

audio everything was running like it was suppose to. Why do the drivers keep

coming out? Is it what I think it is? Is the integrated sound going out on

the system? Please help meeeeee!!!

Thanks in advance
