Guest Rodney LeBlanc Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I currently own a legal copy of Vista Ultimate and realized sometimes last week, on the bottom right corner, stating my copy is an Evaluation Copy. Build 6001. When I look at my system properties, it does show my product key and that my copy of Windows has been activated. Has anyone else notice this? I am wondering if this appeared after I installed Vista SP1. Thanks! Rodney Quote
Guest PaulB Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Yes it is because of SP1. That is what you are evaluating. Vista non SP1 is Build 6000. Remember SP1 is still a beta (Release Candidate). -- Paul "Rodney LeBlanc" wrote: > I currently own a legal copy of Vista Ultimate and realized sometimes last > week, on the bottom right corner, stating my copy is an Evaluation Copy. > Build 6001. > > When I look at my system properties, it does show my product key and that my > copy of Windows has been activated. > > Has anyone else notice this? Windows Vista SP1 is currently in development which is why it has a time-bomb on it, and why it shows the copy as an evaluation. -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK. Guest Dustin Harper Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Vista SP1 is still in beta form, so you will get the evaluation copy logo at the bottom of the screen. If you uninstall SP1 or install the final when it is released, that watermark will be removed. Also, do be aware that the SP1 you installed is time limited (To June 30th, I believe), so be sure to grab the final when it is released! -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com | Vista Resource & Information Page "Rodney LeBlanc" <rodney_leblanc@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:5AC580A8-B2DC-4F7E-8773-ACB22553D8ED@microsoft.com... >I currently own a legal copy of Vista Ultimate and realized sometimes last > week, on the bottom right corner, stating my copy is an Evaluation Copy. > Build 6001. > > When I look at my system properties, it does show my product key and that > my > copy of Windows has been activated. > > Has anyone else notice this?
