Ah, but you don't yet understand it has a "wireless CD drive", which is

a major innovation to the industry. I think you need to learn about the

MacBook Air before you make any other comments, you'll seem very foolish

otherwise.

The Battery is less than a 5 minute replacement and the full retail

"installed" price is $129 in the 4-5 year timeframe, or do it yourself

for less than $60. Apple was once again very smart on this.

And while I agree it's probably $200 more than what a PC user can

afford, it won't effect Mac users since they know it will hold its value

better than a slim PC laptop by over 300%. Wow. Such a deal if you are

good with money.

<chuckle>

You really are a fool for marketing, LOL. This "major innovation" is

nothing more than a convenient button for n00bs, like you! I have been

using CDs and DVDs wirelessly like that FOR YEARS!!! Thinkpad X-Series have

no optical drive unless you connect the Ultrabase, so I do this very often.

All you need to do is to Share an optical drive and its there on the network

to be used by any other computer on the network, wirelessly or wired. It

makes no difference. I haven't done this with a Mac, but I'm pretty sure you

can even do it within a Mac network.

You need to learn more about computers before you tell us more about these

"major innovations" and bespoke processors.

Ultraportables have been around for many years, and most of them do not

compromise on functionality as much as this Macbook Air seems to. It has a

lot of disadvantages, and the main selling point of it being thin, is has no

appeal to me. It is still large. My Thinkpad X-Series laptops are much

battery life, and you can use them on airline seats, which they were

essentially designed for.

Penryn doesn't seem feasible in it's current form factor. Only Apple can

Otherwise, traditional PC vendors will be stuck with it.

LOL what an idiot!! Yes, you can install software and everything, dumbo. A

networked optical drive acts no differently than a local one, retard, except

that it is usually slower (but probably not on wired gigabit network - not

benchmarked on mine).

This wireless Renote Disk offers nothing that could have been done since

wireless first came out, apart from being spoonfed to n00bs. Nothing new.

Can you understand this past the marketing spin that has blinded you. What

do you think you can do with this that you cannot so woth networked drives??

Are you new to computers? I really think you are. What is so amazing? You

do know that all this Macbook is, is a thin computer? The trackpad gestures

is the only thing that impressed me above anything I have seen before, when

I saw those videos a few days ago.

By the way, I was using Macs with System 7, and the first computer I ever

used was my father's Apple IIe clone, in the early 80's.

Of course he is jealous.

The same thing happened when the iPhone was released.

The Linux kooks went on a jamboree claiming th iPhone was/is and will

always be a failure and that some Linux powered brick, whose name I can't

remember and neither can anyone else, would be the future of phones.

You're ignorance is amazing. All Thinkpads have had lights that light up

the keyboard for years. They are called ThinkLights. Having used

Powerbooks and Thinkpads, the more general light of the ThinkLight is

certainly more natural and easier, in my personal opinion.

And nobody that knows anything about laptops is going to back you up saying

that the typing quality of Macbook keyboards is anything as good as Thinkpad

keyboards, which are widely known to be the best. Seriously, just ask

anybody that actually has used them. Even Mac owners will tell you. I

really do not like the chiclet keyboards on recent VAIOs and Macbooks, and

Macbook Pro keyboards are not a lot better.

And the fact that you think that that an ultraportable like the Macbook Air

is especially powerful, is even more laughable.

Here we have the "social elite" Mac user stereotype. Bill Gates

is the richest guy on the planet, yet he uses something else.

So much for that theory.

People from all different backgrounds, educational levels and

wealth figures own both macs and PCs. Trying to pretend that

owning one makes you extra special, extra-smart or extra-wealthy

doesn't make your argument more compelling. Quite the opposite.

> it's really amazing when you use it day to day.

I have a MBP with it, and I don't find it amazing at all. In

fact, I have it set to 0% so it doesn't just waste battery

clicking on/off when you move your hands over the sensors in

normal use in moderately low light conditions.

> pc users have no understanding of modern computing features, so they

> always are jealous it seems.

And pathetically bad Mac advocates can't stop trying to play

amateur psychologist in an attempt to find cause to cover up the

underlying insults when they stereotype PC users.

Both platforms have tradeoffs, as does Linux. There is no

perfect piece of computing hardware, and there is no perfect OS.

It's all about preference. Currently, I prefer OS X to the

alternatives, but I also see and recognize that others have

different needs and expectations. As such, I'm not compelled to

insult them, or impugn their motivations for using other

products.
