A pretty new xp installation. Now when I attached my ext hdd, the pc detected

the hdd but when I try to open it by double click the partition, this message

appears:

 

'Please go to Control Panel to install and config system components" Why

should this message appears? I can still see the content in the ext hdd if I

right click the partition>open.

 

Did I deleted some files from the ext hdd that should not have been deleted?

( fyi I deleted the system volume (?) that was in the ext hdd as indicated by

AVG that it has been infectedd by Backdoor worm virus). Was that a mistake?

Please advice how can I get back to normal it is open see the content of the

ext hdd by double click it, thanks
