I just read his today from wikipedia:

Server Core can also be used to create a cluster with high availability using Failover Clustering or Network Load Balancing.
Windows Server 2008 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is the Network Load Balancing what you meant WS 2008 a high availability and failover cluster? /If that NLB it's what you meant, isn't it the same as in Windows Vista and probably Windows 7?

Those services are only availbale in Server OS. There is software that you can purchase and install on Windows Vista or Windows 7 however you really want to use a server os. Windows 2008 would be ideal and using the core would be best to save on resources.

In WS 2008, is there anything special that I need to due in order to use it as a load-balancing cluster? I would think that it's set at default to be off high availability or failover cluster.

How would the load-balancing cluster handle CPU cores. Can I combine them all, an example, 4 3.0 GHz CPU Quad-cores would equal 12 GHz of CPU power?
