That's true, for entertainment media, but MS has it's own sort of DRM in

the form of WGA/N and WPA.

Figures. You obviously know nothing of languages. Course, this thread

wasn't about grammar but DRM, WGA and WPA, something you are avoiding

like the plague.

Alias has no problem with XP which is WGA. Wait up.. he did have a problem

with XP in the pre-Vista days, and a couple of years from now, he will have

a problem with Windows 7. I guess he has to fill up his time somehow as he

only runs Abiword in Ubuntu, which can't be a whole lot of fun.. :-)

This content, which you ignored and attacked the messenger as you

usually do:

And what happened to users' rights? Without piracy "protection", MS did

quite well with DOS through Win Me. In fact, they did so well, their ex

CEO is the richest man in the world. Course, you ignore the fact that

WPA and WGA doesn't stop real piracy one iota because you believe MS'

FUD. The so-called casual piracy of Windows doesn't even comprise one

per cent of computers running Windows.

Conclusion: WGA and WPA do nothing to stop piracy but everything to try

and get people to buy licenses they don't need as well as

inconveniencing paying customers while the crackers just laugh all the

way to the bank.

I have always had a problem with MS' WPA/WGA SCAM and always will. It's

the main reason I checked out Linux.

And, your slur regarding ABIWord being the only thing I use is, of

course, a lie, and, of course, you know it but that doesn't stop you

from lying anyway.

Please note that again, you attacked me and did not address the content

that Nina posted.

I guess that MS had enough with you pirating their software and distributing

it amongst your friends. Can't say that I blame MS for that. They have more

right to protect their property than you do to steal it. And what of the

right of people to come here for Vista help without having to suffer abuse

from you and your troll friends?

You are just jealous of MS success, in particular Bill Gates. Live with it.

Hiding in the mountains of Spain will not get you riches unless you 'grow

your own' in the orange groves.

Truth is you don't care who gets hustled as long as you get to air your pet

hates. You crow about WGA perpetually yet use XP. Real work is using

Abiword. yeah right.

You get to be called 'little girl' by your Ubuntu peers, so you come here

and take it out on people who want help in getting their OS to work well for

them. You are only interested in your own rights.

Well whatever right it happens to be, they [RIAA] plan on violating it. A

person should be able to live in peace in their home and not worry about

frivilous possible copyright infringment at all. If a man buys a newspaper

takes it home and reads it, he should be held to the law if his wife, or

daughter say, happens to read from the same copy? No way. To put them under

constant threat of legal action for so said "offence" [and similar supposed

offences] amounts to some kind of harrassment and some kind of violation of

THEIR RIGHT to live in peace. Someone should come up with the right legal

wording to block the evil scheme the RIAA is plotting against people living

in peace.

Tell that to Frank. Oh, you can't because he's Mr Vista. And suggesting

Ubuntu *is* helping not only the posters here but the Net in general as

99.99% of the bots in herdbots are Windows boxes.

mountains.

More lies. I use XP and I make sure that it has no WGA, of any flavors,

anywhere near it. What makes you think that my real work only involves

word processing?

Um, the poster who goes by the nick "Little Girl" is not me but a real

woman. So, once again, more LIES. Try comparing the IP addresses if you

don't believe me or are you technically savvy enough to do that?

Actually Mike it has stopped me bothering much with Windows at all and

in fact prompted me to investigate other options that otherwise I would

probably never have bothered with. As an MVP like yourself I "Could"

have stolen lots of copies had I wanted to, but I did not, however WGA /

WPA became just a nuisance and as Alias stated I believe they do nothing

to stop real piracy. The average consumer sees Windows wherever they go,

so windows = computers, it is what they expect and generally accept as

being "The computer", but as more screens become Apple or Linux more

consumers will get used to the idea. The display = publicity. A few

"Casual" pirate copies is, IMHO better than walking into some office and

seeing "Ubuntu" on the screen, people will ask "Does that work then?".

It does.

So this is not really a matter of loyalty or disloyalty, rather it is a

matter of whether MS have made a good or bad business decision, and it

seems to me they are saving $1 which may ultimately cost them $10.

Yawn, I use XP for two reasons only: Outlook and gaming. I have no

problem with using more than one OS. When Evolution *evolves* to the

point where it can replace Outlook, that will only leave gaming.

I use Ubuntu for:

Newsgroups (duh!)

Word Processing

Creating and editing web pages

Music, both ripped CDs and Internet radio

Watching DVDs

Spreadsheets

Surfing the Net

IMing

Data Base for clients

Personal email

Calculator

Dictionary, both for looking up words and for translation

Scanning

Printing

Faxing

Photos

I would say that's a tad more than just ABIWord.

You made a mistake here. You are assuming that Mike is capable of logic.

He's too brainwashed to love MS and scared sh¡tless that he will lose

his once a month clients who come to him to have their Windows boxes

cleaned of malware and viruses.
