Hi,

In the good old days of XP I used to use the program that came with my HP

all in one to scan my documents (HP Photo Director) I would open the program

from my desktop shortcut and use it to scan directly into a folder in 'My

Pictures' When I open 'My Pictures' I get a view of all the folders without

them already being opened. Now that I have Vista I am having a few problems.

First, HP Photo Director will open and scan the image but I then get an

error telling me that the image couldn't be written to C/image001.tiff. How

can I change it to scan as a JPG as default and can I change to default

folder?

Can I also view 'My pictures' as in XP, where they are in closed folders,

because I don't want to have all the pictures on view when I am scrolling

down the page to find a different folder?

Thanks,

Lenny

It sounds like a driver issue. Did you check the HP website for latest

drivers and software for your model printer?

Firstly, I don't think that C/image001.tiff is a valid path? Although

C:\image001.tiff would be.

Secondly, it is a bad idea to store files in the root directory (C:\) so

if necessary create a folder say ScannedImages and make the path in HP

Director read C:\ScannedImages\ so that the path to the file would be

C:\ScannedImages\image001.tiff

Sorry not to be able to tell you how to change the default format or

location but try looking in HELP for HP Director?

I was wrong and yes it is going to C:\image001.tiff , however, if you read

the rest of the post I ask about changing the path.

You're welcome, Lenny.

Even with Vista drivers inbox, you should always check the manufacturer's

website for updates and later versions. You never know how long an item was

in the warehouse or on the shelf and drivers change rapidly and constantly.

You should also check the support section of the manufacturer's website for

references to this issue as well.

I know you did -- that's why I said I couldn't help you and suggested

you check out the HELP file in HP Direcotr.
