This may same real lame but I cannot find a way to sort and order files and

subfolders by name, date etc.

 

How do you do this in Vista?

Same as in other versions of Windows: click on the column heading you

want to sort by. Click it again to reverse the sort, ascending to

descending, or vice versa.

To sort, just click on the column headers, like in XP.

 

If you don't see the columns that you want, say Name, Size, Date, etc.

maybe the folder template needs to be changed. There are templates for

documents, picture & videos, music, etc.

Right-click on a blank area of the windows below Name, and select "Customize

this folder", and select which template you want.

You can also right-click on the Name heading, and select whichever columns

you wish to see.

 

Then you can sort by clicking on whichever header you want.

right click on an open area in the folder, select Sort By.

 

Just the same as in Win 3, 95, 98, ME, 2K, XP....

For me a big improvement in VISTA is that you can sort by a column

heading without having to set the display to Details.

 

For example, you can sort by Date Modified while in the List mode.
