No, you are the worst troll here, I'm afraid. By a good margin. You’re

worse than the jehovas. At least they get lost when I let the dogs out

into the yard.

Rubbish, even my local store is doing "internet ready linux PCs" for £99.

They don't appear to sell like hotcakes and they only build them to order.

I must check what the spec is and see if the will run home server?

More rubbish.

OEMs don't do linux as it doesn't sell.

Maybe it will be different for Dell this time?

Its all about profit, if linux was wanted it would be an option on all the

machines. As it is people pay more for a PC with windows and the OEM and

shop make a bit more profit.

Typical insults when FACTS are against you.

It is noted you said NOTHING to dispute what was said.

Your insults are reflective on your character and say nothing of

others.

"are not give or informed that there is a choice"

That is an interesting comment.

Why?

It is not because of Microsoft.

Choices abound for consumers.

Since Linux computers are available from at least one major OEM and

many local shops, the failure must be elsewhere.

Only time will tell if Dell with Linux will succeed this time or it

will fail as it did years ago.

Who is responsible to inform the customers?

Why is it someone's responsibility?

Generally it is the customers who must research what is available base

on their needs.

All the necessary information is freely available and easy to find.

From there seek a seller of the product that meets their needs.

Just like other products.

"my NOBLE mission"

Step back and look at what you are doing.

You spend much of your time bashing people and products and far less

on the merits of Linux.

You spend time evangelizing Linux in Windows groups and bashing others

when instead you could be spreading the positive message where it will

be better received.

Your "NOBLE mission" of bashing others instead of touting the benefits

shows your character and bias very clearly.

One of the few groups that attempts to sell their message by

continuously bashing others are politicians.

And most here know how politicians are respected.

Your behavior is similar to many politicians as you regularly

demonstrate.

Your newsreaders inability or more likely your own inability to adjust

for others is your own limitation and no one elses.

If you do not like it, it is up to you and only you to adjust.

The world does not cater to your desires.

As demonstrated by your name calling and other attacks, you are simply

unable to deal with the issues.

Your regular attacks on others who disagree with you are reflective on

Which translates into millions. I predict it will treble this coming

year thanks to the user friendliness of Linux and Vista causing so many

people to tear their hair out, motivating them to check out alterntives.

But it can't run the major and most popular applications..

Usually not the best one for people with vista though.

They tend to want to run windows programs for some odd reason.

Ubuntu is a option for users with linux installed but why would they

downgrade?

Ubuntu is an option for XP users but only if they have no windows software

they need/want to run.

Ubuntu is an option for win98 users.. no I take it back they probably don't

have enough RAM.

But then there are better options than Ubuntu.. Macs for instance or almost

any other flavor of linux or even better a freebsd based distro if they have

the right hardware.

The whole truth about Ubuntu is that it has a cr@p installer.

It doesn't even bother to check if it can run on the machine when you start

it from the live CD so it hangs part way through the install on some

machines, just after it has wiped the partitions in my case.

Now that is due to lack of RAM as I only have 256M and it does actually say

somewhere that you need more.

However if it needs more why run the installer? Like I said cr@p.

As for the alternate install disk that doesn't require more than 256M it

also fails on my Vaio, it doesn't say why it just hangs.

So there we have it Ubuntu will run from the live CD but won't install, it

just hangs with no warning or messages.

Is that good or what?

As for being stupid.. what does it take to install this wonderful easy to

use OS?

I am not going to wade through pages of readmes just to install it.

It was bad enough having to find the command line bits to get it to work in

the M$ VM without having to do more to make it run on a bog standard

notebook.

BTW you should try it in a VM its quite quick without all the graphics junk

loaded.

I can probably find the command line chants again if you need them or you

could just google this vista group as it was a helpful vista user that told

me what they were.

You can predict all you want. Linux/Ubuntu will still be just a blip on the

False. It's been "up and coming" for the last 20 years now. Give it a

rest. You are just sore that Microsoft rules the marketplace.

Not that I think Microsoft ruling is a good thing, but Linux just doesn't

have what it takes. The product is FREE and nobody wants it.

hahaha....yeah right! Call us all when it "happens'...that is, if you

and any of the rest of us are still alive.

Live with it.

Or die waiting...LOL!

Your arrogance and belligerence is second only to your ignorance and

stupidity.

The world runs on Windows because it's inexpensive, very easy to use and

is by far the very best OS in the entire world.

You're the one who has to get use to it, you lying loser POS.

The only program Windows has that Ubuntu has that I use is Outlook 03

and it appears, now the Novel has bought Evolution, that I won't need

Outlook either. That and Windows only games.

To which other "major and most popular applications" were you referring?

I love you too, Frank.

False. Windows runs on most computers because MS strong-armed the OEMs

and hardware manufacturers and most people don't know any better.

Oh, I am already used to it. I just made 60 euros cleaning up a POS XP

installation riddled with malware and viruses. The customer will be

moving up to Ubuntu.
