hi,

I just don't understand what people's problem with windows vista is!

Everyone says it doesn't work with 3rd party applications.... well guess

who's fault that is! The company that made the app!

Anyways I wanted to hear what issues people had with vista and how we can

resolve them!

Thanks

James

Vista problems solved!

Before I got my new system with Vista I knew what was not up dated by other

vendors and was prepared. Fro example I called HP about my HP printer and

they said they would not be issuing drivers for Vista. So go buy one. That

was an HP decision not MS. So I think that applied across the board

Now some people will tell you to go buy Mugabe software...now that is one

crazy piece of OS. A friend of mine tried it and after three days it still

would not install. The name alone should tell you to run like hell!

And these imaginary problems that you've made up are? Let's see, do you

mean these?:

1. No activation required.

2. No becoming genuine required.

3. No chance of acquiring viruses or malware.

4. No chance of becoming part of a botnet like millions of Windows boxes

are.

5. No chance of having to pay for your operating system.

6. No chance of having to pay for programs unless you just have to use a

Windows based program.

7. You'll be deprived of your daily habit of updating anti virus and

anti malware programs.

There must be more that you can add, can't you Mike?

Because some forums skim newsgroup posts.

Some are more open that others.

While others would like visitors to mistakenly believe the posts

originate in their forums which can falsely lead someone to believe

the forum is something it is not.

It is little or no work for the forum operators to skim since they

avoid all the work normally associated with operating a forum.

Yep, going for the Vista Virus will cost you a lot of money and all you

get is a fancy dancy virus prone copy of Windows.

Um, that doesn't exist. Mugabe is a dictator and has never developed or

had software developed in his name. That makes you a liar. Just what

sort of connotation did you hope to achieve in the minds of the readers

with this lie?

Seems like the same argument MS folks used to advance about Linux and

bleeding edge hardware. People don't really care whose fault it is - they

want things to WORK.

Hmm. I have a ceramic garden gnome with exactly the same chacteristics.

Unlike Ubuntu, though, the gnome is kinda cute. The only thing I have to

worry about - which I wouldn't with Ubuntu - is someone stealing my gnome

for some horrid prank.

Your opinion of me is not an "Ubuntu problem". Course, being as you're

We already know that you think being inhumane is the right thing to do.

You prove it with almost every one of your posts.

Got any more insults you would like Google to archive for your grand

There is no support from the major software authors, and people changing to

Ubuntu will essentially have to give up being able to run almost all of

their Windows based software.

There is little point changing to an OS which will not run programs that the

user has gotten used to running and likes.

I run Office 2007, and Outlook is a major app in that suite. Does Outlook or

anything similar run in Linux?

NO..

Is there anything like Outlooks Business Contact Manager that will run in

Linux?

NO

Will MapPoint run in Linux?

NO

Will Encarta or similar run in Linux?

NO

Will American Greetings Create-a-card run in Linux?

NO

I play CFS 3, Halo and Age of Empires III occasionally. Do they run in

Linux?

NO

Is Ubuntu a good replacement for the kind of general use above?

NO

Is there anything wrong with Linux in general?

NO

Would the average user be technical enough to easily run Linux?

NO

Should users be forced to become technical in order to get anything from

their computers?

NO

Does Windows suit all needs?

NO

Does Linux suit all needs?

NO

Does MacOS suit all needs?

NO

Is the original concept of Linux becoming over burdoned in the attempt to

make it a competitor for Windows?

YES

Have you looked at Evolution? And there's always Scalix:

Linux games are weak. I do remember Doom and Quake though. No

one ever ran Quake servers on windows... Wonder why...

I have a laptop, a pc x64 and a x32 with Vista all I have had no problems at

all with my software or drivers. I connect to 7 different printers + 2 Hp

plotters and all function perfectly. Maybe I'm lucky or is that I was

patient enough to go and search for the right drivers! I also use 3

different scanners with no hassle. Work daily with Photoshop Cs, CorelDraw

Suite 12, Office 2007, Acrobat Read and other oldish software and have only

had problems with filters and add on's.

No operating system works perfectly off the shelf and at the begining even

Xp created hell with drivers and software. MS worked hard on Vista and I

find it definitely more stable and productive then any other operating

system.
