I tired finding the so called vista media group but no search could

find anything. windows.vista.music_pictures_video.

My Vista PC works fine and I am very happy with vista. However my

media center does not work properly.

The issue is that I can see and play mpeg files(only have a few music

vids uder this file type) but I cannot see or

play any avi or wmv video files. I can ony see their parent folder no

thumbnail for the video file.

This happens on the xbox 360 aswell when i try to connect it to my pc.

I have since gone back to connecting my xbox to my laptop which has

media center 2005 and I can play videos with it np. I can play all

files fine under media player 11 so I don't thin it is a codec issue

as I have tried a few codecs.

So it must be a security issue but I cannot find what. I have allowed

all users to read, execute, list folder contents. Don't know what else

to do. It is jsut strnage that mpeg videos can found and played but

wmv or avi's can't.

I have read a few psots where others have had a similar problem has

anyone fixed it?

The other newsgroup is:

microsoft.public.windows.vista.music_pictures_video

I have the business version which doesn't include media center so

don't know what your problem is.
