Error number: 0x80072F76

When trying to access the update site I am getting the error 0x80072F76.

I have read through most of the recommendations below to no avail.

 

I do not have any personal firewall (except the one included with Windows).

I do not have a download accelerator.

I've tried renaming my Software Distribution folder.

I've added the update domain to my list of trusted sites.

I don't access the web via a proxy.

I've even tried reregistering all the update dll's.

 

NOTHING is working - even the windows update software that seems to check

for updates and download then install appears to be failing - it notifies me

about updates and then "dies".

I've even tried reinstalling the update windows update software!?!?!

 

The only thing I have running (which I cannot disable) is McAfee. However I

do not see how that should prevent me from accessing the Update page - I

could before however it just seemed to "stop working". I hate it when users

say that but this is what happened.

 

Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
