You two morons trying to have sex with each other? Who's on top? I

doubt it could be you Frank, you'd slip off, besides forty-nine

"Generally speaking, this statement hits me as exceedingly hypocritical.

We hear repeatedly out of MVPs in these groups that it is unethical to

do anything with windows that is not specifically stated in the EULA to

be allowed. For example, borrowing a windows install cd from a friend

and using the 30 day grace period for trying it out before buying a

license. However, the same posters will make comments like the one

above. Why would you who claim to to so ethical by following the

license to the letter for MS products adopt the double standard of

supporting such an unethical company as MS?"

I mean exactly what I said above in my quoted post, Mike. You and some

others talk down anyone who does not follow the EULA to the letter as

doing such unethical things, yet you endorse a company so unethical and

criminalistic as Microsoft?! You give off this impression that

everything that MS does is fine, and they can do no wrong. That is a

total double standard and I'm sorry if you can't understand that.

Thats why laws were passed to try to stop those

abuses. Yes they happen in other businesses.

Its come to a point where monopolies will control

everything and the individual will be obsolete.

That's where large entities, especially

monopolies, take advantage.

you have $1000 they have $1000000. In the system

today they win by default.

This stops innovation and keeps ethics as a joke

to most.

Linux is anything but innovative. It is slowly going down the same road as

Windows. Linux appeared as a PC server OS, the cheap but good alternative to

hugely expensive machines made by IBM and others. It paved the way for small

companies to be able to run cheap affordable servers that wouldn't break the

bank to buy, run or repair. It still does all of this.

But desktop computing isn't about number crunching one task, and the desktop

distros are becoming ever larger and reliant on decent, relatively new

hardware.

Just as Linux and PC servers have stolen the market from midrange expensive

computers, Windows beat Mac in the marketplace for the same reason. Steve

Jobs laid out strict guidelines re design, but design costs the user.

Windows ran on any old ugly PC, whether professionally assembled or slung

together in the corner of a bedroom or kitchen.

Innovation comes from the small guy but, ultimately, the only way it will

surface in usable form is through companies like Microsoft and IBM. Like it

or not, they are a necessary evil, as are Ford, GM, Exxon, BP, EMI, Sony and

many others.

I thought it had already been established that most linux distros, including

your favorite, had code to bypass drm in them.

Thus they are illegal in the USA and EU (Spain is in the EU) so most linux

users act illegally from the start.

Once they have started committing a crime who knows where they will stop.
