In this case, the motivation for giving it away is the problem. You can

bet your next WGA check that the motivation was not based in altruism.

No. It comes under the general heading of marketing.

That type of marketing was deemed illegal in the US.

It is very unethical.

Apple design and marketing policy ensure that Apple remains a niche product.

MS produced an operating system that would run on almost anything, be it

produced by a major manufacturer or cobbled together on the kitchen table.

Linux desktop is attempting to break into a market that is very well

established. It will always have a tough time.

Users of Windows have gotten used to huge support over the years, both in

terms of software and people who understand and can fix problems. Until

Linux has that same level of support, it will remain where it is now.

No one did. Such obvious lies don't require a denial. Such obvious

trolls don't require feeding.

brainless fool trolling this MS Vista ng pushing linux...you are.

Generally speaking, this statement hits me as exceedingly hypocritical.

We hear repeatedly out of MVPs in these groups that it is unethical to

do anything with windows that is not specifically stated in the EULA to

be allowed. For example, borrowing a windows install cd from a friend

and using the 30 day grace period for trying it out before buying a

license. However, the same porters will make comments like the one

above. Why would you who claim to to so ethical by following the

license to the letter for MS products adopt the double standard of

supporting such an unethical company as MS?

That's because some try to live by their ethics

and others ethics are governed by thier wants at

the time.
