Hi all

I'm tryint to get a basic understanding of what MOM does and why i should

use it for my network. Can someone tell me in your own words what it does,

please. I struggle to find this on the net

Thanks

MOM (Microsoft Operations Manager) is basically a product that acts as a

central repository for event monitoring & data analysis of your network and

applications i.e. Exchange and SQL management packs allow you to monitor

specifics of Exchange and SQL i.e. health, event logs, general stats, etc.

See the following MOM data sheet from the MS website that should give you an

idea of what MOM is capable of doing for you.

Hi,

While what Pieman says is correct, it should be noted that MOM doesn't do

all that much and what it does do, it doesn't do very well. HUGE

improvements have been made to it as it has been reincarnated as SCOM 2007.

If you are looking for management and monitoring look there.
