Hello there

I Would like to know once a service patch becomes available. This, so that

I can redress the following:

Run all my hardware items such as my printers, scanner and external drives.

Redress password issues in the word processor that I am using.

Any relevant feedback will help to ensure the smooth changeover to this

program with as fewer issues as possible.*

Thanks

Michael

*Operating system that I'm using right now is 'Windows XP Home edition.'

Service patches 1 & 2 installed.

I'm sure you are talking about "Service Packs". There is no official date

for Vista's first service pack...and you are not the only one anxiously

waiting for it -) I think your approach is a good one.

If you keep monitoring NGs such as this one, you will find out well in

advance when it will be available. If it goes like last time (XP), MS even

came out with a beta version of it (not recommended for production

machines). The point is, you won't find it covered in the evening news but

it will be hard to miss here.

The best rumor is to coincide with the release of Windows Server 2008

later this year or early next year.

In the past, some hardware and software had issues with a new Service

Pack.

Verify SP compatibility with essential hardware and software before

installing a Service Pack.

All issues, known and unknown, should be resolved before installing a

Service Pack.

"Service patches 1 & 2 installed."

The installation of Service Pack 1 is irrelevant since SP-2 includes

SP-1.

There is no need or reason to install SP-1 if you are installing SP-2.

Not at all likely tot be addressed by any Vista service pack, because

these aren't even remotely Windows issues. Contact the makers of the

various devices to obtain updated, Vista-specific device drivers and any

accompanying software.

Again, not likely to be addressed by an OS service pack, because this

isn't a Windows issue. Contact the maker of your word processor to

obtain a patch or update to make the application Vista-compatible.
