I didn't say I can't install Ubuntu.

I have had it running fine thanks.

I said Ubuntu is cr@p because it won't install on my vaio.

Its not exactly a state of the art, no drivers available yet, machine.

Other versions of linux and xp run on it but not Ubuntu.

I pity any newbie who gets anything like as many problems as I have had with

Ubuntu on the vaio.

It just evidences that Ubuntu is not going anywhere yet.

Its a shame its a celeron as I might have put OS x on it.

Did you see if Fiesty will run on it. And why

don't you complain or ask for help in the Ubuntu

newsgroup? Or is it you don't want help? You sure

arn't going to get it here.

I suppose that would be true but why would I ask in a linux group if I

wanted help.

They aren't very helpful IME, and the people here are far more knowledgeable

than most linux users.

I have decided its just not going to work so I have relegated the vaio to

win98se.

I have a Kodak film scanner that only works on 98 so it will be better use

there.

I have a Tosh with Ubuntu on it anyway but I was going to put OS X on that,

now I will have to find another machine to play with OS x.

This Samsung would be ideal but I only have one sata disk so that is out

ATM.

I still don't think much of 7.10 it is little different to 7.04 but more

difficult to install IME.

Untrue.

I was helped with installing Ubuntu on a VM here.

I would have been quite happy if Ubuntu had installed on the vaio.

However having seen Ubuntu on another machine I wouldn't expend much effort

on getting it to run.

There are better alternatives to Ubuntu in the Linux world and in the

windows world.

As I have said before there is nothing wrong with using Linux or even Ubuntu

if it does what is required.

The same is true for windows even though you would disagree (while

continuing to use it).

I think you /are/ only here to dis windows BTW and do keep offering very

poor advice to other people.

If you really wanted help, you would have asked for it at an Ubuntu

forum. Ergo, you really didn't want any help.

I admit I am a novice and never claimed to be an expert. That said, I

There is NOTHING wrong with top posting in many newsgroups.

If you CHOOSE to post in a newsgroup where top posting is acceptable,

it is you that needs to accept it or make appropriate changes.

If you are unwilling, that is also YOUR choice and no one else's.

As for:

"A. Because that way it makes sense.

Q. Why bottom post?"

That is a very old excuse and ignores the fact that the thread is

ongoing and relatively few need to read the old again.

When the question has already been read, there is no reason to read it

again if it is remembered.

If memory is unclear, the question can easily be scrolled.

"Wintard"

Your continued need for name calling and insults show your true

motives of bashing windows and those who like Windows while pretending

to help others.

Name calling and insults are needed only by those insecure in their

beliefs, not by those with confidence.

Yeah, especially people that just subscribed to the news group. NOT!

Um, select message in its preview pane or open it. Raise hand, use

I was referring to top posting as Wintard, not the poster. Acting stupid

and being stupid aren't necessarily the same thing unless you're Frank.

I didn't insult someone but some thing. Of course your Wintard top

posting and sig delimiter nuked the rest of the message that you

erroneously say can be reviewed when you employ top posting.

Speaking of people using insults, is your high moral horse sick when it

comes to Frank?

Frank

Re: Walmart offers for a wimpy $39.00

"It's retarded"

It is accepted in many newsgroups and you know it.

Your inability to accept something that many others accept displays

why some of your prejudices seem unseen by you.

If you do not like something that is acceptable, it is up to you to

change or leave.

An option is not to have others comply with your CHOICE and ignore

their own.

"Yeah, especially people that just subscribed"

They can easily scroll and read the posts.

"select message in its preview pane"

You can read post however you choose.

You are in no position to have others change from an acceptable form

of posting.

In your forum you can dictate, this is NOT yours.

"I was referring to top posting as Wintard, not the poster."

And yet in the same paragraph you refer to Frank.

Sometimes it seems you do not read what you write.

Your continued NEED to call names and insult is evidence of this.

"I didn't insult someone but some thing."

Is that how you refer to Frank as "some thing"?

"Speaking of people using insults, is your high moral horse sick when

it comes to Frank?"

Your continued comparisons of yourself to Frank demonstrate why you

find insults acceptable.

Who does Frank mostly insult?

Does that person return the same?

If so they are the same and neither is in any position to say anything

about the other.

You probably feel you do it less than Frank and therefore conclude how

good you are.

You need a different standard unless you admire Frank.

As I have suggested before you both need to change.

But I doubt you will since as before you seem to use Frank as your

standard.

No, not if you don't mind being seen as a fool, arrogant and

well. People are what they are and what you choose to share about

You add nothing to the discussion, regardless of thread. You need to

to have no desire to control who says what or where they post you're

If you knew anything about Usenet which this newsgroup is a part of,

you would understand that top posting is ALWAYS frowned on by

experienced posters. That leaves one of two conclusions. Either you're

not anywhere near as "experienced" as you love to pretend or you

simply don't give a sh*t and get some rush out of making sure whatever

crap you want to say always is at the top so nobody misses it. So at

best you're a ignorant fool or at worse an ignorant fool that don't

mind if he's seen that way because he (you) get off on it.

What's the matter, did I strike too close to home Jupiter? I had you

Exactly what you are. I watched your responses and after a very short

time you emerged as one of the biggest blowhard pompous as*holes I've

ever seen in any ng. Then I decided to start kicking your fat ignorant
