I am looking for information on how to disable volume automounting in XP /

W2003 / Vista. Disks (IDE/USB....) added to a computer should not be

automatically mounted to a drive letter and made visible to the user.

Mounting a volume should need an explicit administrator action in e.g.

DiskMgmt.msc.

I know about "diskpart.exe automount disable scrub" and "volmount /n" on

W2003, but cannot find similar utilities on XP / Vista.

I guess this kind of functionality resides in the Windows Volume Manager, or

perhaps the PnP Manager.

Please point me to APIs and utilities for controlling this.
