MCI Command Handling Window Screwing Up My System!!!

Hi guys,

 

I keep getting an "Ending Program..." pop up window whenever I shut down or

restart my computer. Its window title is "MCI Command Handling Window". I

wait for it to try closing however when the progress bar reaches the end it

always says "This program is not responding. To return to Windows and check

the status of this program, press cancel. Otherwise, click 'End Now'. You

will lose all unsaved information... etc.etc.". I press End Now since I want

my computer to shut down however when Windows exits to the "Logging off"

screen, it hangs there and I have to do an improper shutdown.

 

I've tried looking for the MCI application on Task Manager as well as the

Configuration Utility but have been unable to find it.

 

I am running Windows XP Professional with SP2.

 

Could someone please help me with this? It is very frustrating having to

endanger my computer lifespan with this issue. Thanks alot!
