Weak attempt at building a Strawman. Hell Dennis, you can't even do

that good. I'm simply saying one that uses his playing of a game as an

example of memory management (what you just did) is hardly qualified

to comment on the topic, let alone fake being expert on the topic

which you implied. You play games on your computer, wow, I'm

impressed, so do the kids down the street. So ok, we established

you're not an expert. So maybe you should put a disclaimer in your

posts and remind people you get off just shooting off your mouth

pretending.

>You were the one that said you were a heavy user and didn't need much RAM,

>you obviously aren't a heavy user at all.

Based on the crap you say. As I've said countless times one of the

things I do a lot is professional grade video editing. That since you

obviously don't know is one of the most intensive tasks you can ask a

personal computer to do. While that's going on I'm often multitasking

doing several other demanding tasks. Many tasks, like video editing

are more CPU intensive due to the number of calculations involved to

CHANGE pixels around which is a very different task then merely MOVING

pixels around on screen, which is the primary function of most games.

Games are generally very RAM dependent, other tasks are not.

What you clearly fail to understand is many things you can do on a

computer are demanding of your CPU, not always RAM. Consider

Photoshop, another professional tool I use all the time. Adding more

RAM only increases the number of files or the size of files that can

be open at once. Beyond a certain point adding RAM does nothing

relative to how fast any particular task runs or takes to complete.

See, that almost proves you are telling lies. If you have two businesses

and are making "boatloads" of money, you wouldn't be bitching about saving

money by using Ubuntu. NOPE. Doesn't fly there slick. You are just here

to annoy people and push your Ubuntu and OpenSores software whenever you

can, which by your posts is all day, every day. So it seems that you have

plenty of time to post and are NOT running two successful businesses.

Remember, if it doesn't make sense, then it probably isn't true.

Before installing Windows Vista, did you check your computer was

ready?

Are there Windows Vista drivers for all your hardware?

Are all your essential compatible with Windows Vista?

What are the specifics of the computer?

Memory?

Video?

Processor?

Etc.

Any of these can cause issues depending on your specific uses.

Do not simply stop at the Microsoft minimum or even recommended since

for some, those are inadequate.

Run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx?wt_svl=10008VHa1&mg_id=10008VHb1

It is an advisor, nothing more.

Use it as another tool to help determine the readiness of your

computer for Windows Vista.

Check with the hardware and software manufacturers and see if there

are any updates.

Some have not, but many have provided updates to make their products

Windows Vista compatible.

Since you did not give specifics of your issues, it is impossible to

point to specific fixes.

You gotta' love that one...support goes outsourced to India

where they may direct you to outsourced Taiwan for WPA (?),

or outsourced MS help to India firm gets you (via outsourced

outsource..) back to a USA/BR/Ger employee in your local

country. Go to India for job training/work in USA. (really)

It's sort of like the rumbling of a volcano...

people aren't going to..or using 'nix because they want to...

if they are going there it's because a volcano is rumbling.

(MS direction and bad manners on Windows releases)

Newer hardware should come with some software allowing

it to operate/run even on XP or 2k and even 'nix and won't

actually run things faster on Vista than XP or possibly 2k

since speed of loading programs is hard drive dependant..

running programs is program developer and ram dependant

(with cpu called into action for actual crunching) then

graphics are mostly done on video cards gpu (graphical

processing unit)....Vista is just a shell...you can make a

good shell but it won't speed up hardware in any way,

or you can make a bad shell that limits hardware efficiency.

The core shell in Vista is pretty good on it's own, the

network stack is improved and both almost as good

as what Microsoft had available almost 7 years ago!

<listen to all the chuckling from EntServer2000sp1 admin's>

Vista (even bus/ult) is like watching a dog chase it's own tail...

After a six year dry spell on a released Windows most

people get Vista pre-installed (95% ??), even the 3buck

deal is a better bet...a slim edition of XPsp2 and Office.

Microsoft is sending the efficient systems out and the

whale award to loyal clients and first time users. imho

If Vista was anything close to what you keep claiming you wouldn't

have to keep screaming everything else is crap. The fact that Vista is

flawed in many areas, has caused untold problems for countless hoards

of users. That Microsoft has already issued several hot fixes,

security updates and is planning on releasing a service park in the

near future confirms Vista is just another broken version of Windows

like all the versions before it were.

Facts always trump loud mouth blowhards like you Frank. Maybe you

Video editing is not very demanding at all.

I have captured and edited DV video quite successfully on a 500MHz Pentium

powered Dell laptop.

It might take a while to render it to a different format but that isn't

editing.

So that was complete cr@p from you there.

If you are going to lie about your experience at least try and choose

something I don't know enough about to know you are lying.

Transforms and lighting to you they make your video editing look very

simple.

Just as well some of it isn't done by the CPU.

> Games are generally very RAM dependent, other tasks are not.

Lets see:

Here you are telling a user that he doesn't need any RAM based on your

pathetic experience of editing little tiny 720x576 pixel images (assuming

its PAL and not cr@p NTSC.

If you didn't know that that doesn't require much RAM and is IO limited

then thats your problem.

As the OP may have noticed even if you didn't, I suggested he look to see

how much RAM he needed rather than listen to some crazy person like you that

can't see any other persons point of view.

As for the game.. well its a perfectly good example of an application that

does need RAM.

So now why don't you go and take your pills and sit quietly in the corner.

Well try running some demanding applications so that you can actually

understand why a user might want more RAM than you.

You might find it quite enlightening if you found out that you are not the

center of the universe and that your experiences are not representative of

everyone else.

So far all you have done is show that you have very little experience with

computers and that you think everyone else is the same.

Anyone that is different you brand a fanboy as they don't agree with you.

Like I said you are crazy.

If there are no rules in unmoderated newsgroups, and for once you got

something right, why do YOU insist on demanding people STFU if you

don't like what they say and you constantly are telling them to not

Nailed you again boy. Frank, you're always such a dope. I got a pet

How's your blood pressure Frank? You've told us you're an old man. All

Thanks Frank. You just proved again why you're an idiot. You just

agreed that everyone has a right to make a choice, then you prove you

don't really mean it by screaming that the other guy should shut the

fu*k up.

You're sure some piece of work Frank.

I guess that waiting for proof of what you said will be a waste of my time,

eh? :-)

frank is an old man??? Are you sure?

Please someone confirm this...

Well, one of the witnesses to it was Alias, and he still posts here.

You were doing it in the XP groups. I'm sure he will speak up if he

feels like it. I don't need proof, your prior actions were all the

proof I ever needed, Mike.

I don't know where you get your info. Video editing (and all of its

workings) is one of the most demanding applications out there. I wonder

how you were doing it on a 500MHz machine, and a laptop at that. All

the high end video editors I know of require a throughput that a 4,200

or 5,400 rpm laptop drive can't deliver. Not counting the RAM, CPU and

video card.

In what way was I soliciting business exactly?

I was doing it because Alias said I was? Do I have a website selling

something? No, I do not. Do I answer e-mail queries for financial gain? No I

do not.

Still waiting for proof of the allegation..
