I have nota bit of know how with fixes and all the other things you are

asking some of the people to do here, I loved windows 98 I loved windows xp,

so as soon as I heard about vista, I told my hubby to get it for my desktop,

for my birthday in Feb. I have had nothing but problems, I have tried

updates, most of them make it worst, I tried not even using my comp a few

days..lol thinking it was resting, my trashbin says now when i want to empty

it that there is 13,000 items in it, once I emptied it anyway, but then I did

a system restore so I could use my comp. to at least get my email, and what I

am most sad about is how excited I was to get this, I was playin sims 2 for

pc with xp no problems, and pogo, and iwin, and a few others, I could

download, screensavers too, and they worked, not now...sorry so long but I am

at a crossroad, next step is callin in a pc man to put back my xp. Moose

You have gone through the crossroad,(You have made up your mind!) into a

one-way dead end, XP

well this is why I feel that with vista there is just too many issues and

taking way to long, for the price it costs too, let alone the upgrades I made

for it on my desktop, and you know back in Feb, I too, would have been cross

with me for thinking like this but hey were not all great with comps, like

you must be. So glad you could help me with this issue Mick

From what I have seen, Vista is a one way street...too bad MS pointed it the

wrong way.

Because YOU like it doesn't mean everyone will.

I don't have any problems making it work 'as designed'.

I just don't like the design.

It's like "The Thing" from VW...no matter how much they spent on advertising

& marketing, they couldn't overcome the fact that it was a POS.

You can wrap a dog turd in a Baby Ruth wrapper and call it candy, but that

doesn't change the taste.

You have to go with the times otherwise you get left behind.

Would you still like to be working with Windows 3.1?

Your computer may well not be up to the task of running Vista. For best

results, you need a good video card, a decent CPU and 1-2gb RAM. Does that

describe your computer?

Sims2 according to the Sims forum does work very well as long as the video

card is up to it.

http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=281

Pogo know that their games do not like Vista and are presumably in the

process of fixing the issues. Question Pogo about this.

Screensavers not working is a non-issue for me.

Your best bet may well be a return to XP, not because Vista is bad so much

as your system is not up to the task of running it.

I work with Ubuntu and XP. Ubuntu is for real work and XP is for gaming.

Get Ubuntu otherwise you get left behind.

You are doing the best thing by going back to XP

like millions of other people are.....

Microsoft blundered with Vista and is paying the price...

they can control a lot, but they cannot control the feelings of disgust

someone feels

with a horrible OS like Vista.

We have the power to chose what is best. And there is no doubt XP is the

Best MS OS.

I love the backpedaling! From MS fanataic suporter >> to excuses why vista

might not work.. LOL

Its not his-her computer.. its that Vista is CRAP. Look at the official

requierments fanboy...

Do you actually think she has something less than 800mhz cpu and 512 mb ram?

Keep that up... !!! And in a few months you will have backpedaled so much

you will be

telling everyone to avoid vista unless they are Geeks and have time to lose

with Vista.

Sorry for my irritating tone.. but you guys have reallllyyyyy gotten on my

nerves all those months

when I was screaming in the desert about how vista would be a flop and no

one listened.

You made fun of me back then didnt you? You thought I was a loon didnt you?

You frikin didnt understand WHY I was saying all that, and you called me a

troll didnt you?

But as you see... what I was saying is now coming true.. people are going

back to XP thousands upon thousands

each day.

Its suprizing to see what I could clearly see after using vista for 15

minutes (back then it was longhorn and then betas and then RC)

that you guys need months and months and months to realize!

GESH!

I run two businesses and make a lot of money doing it. Is that real

enough for you? I use Evolution for email/contacts/calendar, fax,

ABIWord, Open Office Spreadsheet, Open Office DataBase and Firefox.

While I'm working, I use Amarok to listen to music.

Sorry we get on your nerves, but there's only so much tolerance the

non-mental health professional can have for neurotics.

We've tried to be patient with your psychological problems we've patiently

pointed out that your evangelical zeal is akin to the jibberish-shouter on

42nd Street, that decent folk have more pressing matters than sympathizing

with a "The End Is Near" paranoic.

Please, take your meds, have a lie-down, get drunk, whatever, to calm down.

But really, see a counselor or minister regarding your obsession. It's

really not healthy.

Alternatively, all you have to do is go to sleep. Tomorrow you'll be one of

us.

You know, I was wondering the same thing. What kind of REAL work do

you do with your computer Mickey? I mean besides grandstanding in

I just got done reading some slop from Dennis, another blowhard, and

he revealed he based what he said on playing a freaking computer game.

I don't expect you to be anything other than crazy.

Are you saying games are not a legitimate use of a computer.

You were the one that said you were a heavy user and didn't need much RAM,

you obviously aren't a heavy user at all.

What do you do that makes you think you are a heavy user besides waste time

here?

Did I say that? No, I didn't. The reason I use Ubuntu instead of Vista

has to do with the intrusive DRM, WGA, WPA, no Compiz-Fusion and the

fact that Vista is very virus and malware prone. In addition, the

computer I use for Ubuntu isn't high end enough for the bloated POS

called Vista. So, I save money on both hardware and the operating system

in addition to not having to put up with the flaws of Vista mentioned above.

The *last* thing I need when I am doing real work is to have to call

India to explain to them that I didn't steal the license I paid for,

thank you very much!

don't get carried away:-)

I understand how logical conclusions may seem like something paranoid you.

This is a sign of mental illness, I would suggest you talk to your doctor

soon : -)

DRM, WGA, and WPA are not intrusive for everybody, and neither is Vista

particularly virus or Trojan prone.

Using ANY call centre these days will probably connect to an overseas

outsourced operation, and again many never have to call them.

Your 'real work' hardly stretches your OS, and is not the same as other

Linux users vision of real work. In fact, use of what you suggested as real

work is scoffed at by 'real' Linux users. Maybe that is why you sit in these

newsgroups and stay clear of 'real' Linux aficionados.

You make it up as you go along, perpetuating an OS argument that is as old

as hell and worn out. If you paid as much attention to your business as you

do to denigrating MS, who knows. You may just make enough to buy a Vista

computer. At least you could criticize from a user standpoint instead of the

'hearsay evidence that you so heavily rely upon.

Another fabrication by Alias - If you run two business and make alot of

money doing it, how could you have time to post all day, every day, about

Ubunbu? You are probably working two jobs, one at a fast food

establishment, and the other, a small bakery.
